You Should Sit Down Before Looking at the Harry Potter Studio Tour's Halloween Decor

11 October 2017 4:30 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Of all the items on diehard Harry Potter fans' bucket lists, getting the chance to walk through London's Harry Potter Studio Tour is up there next to drinking butterbeer Irl and joining Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe's group chat. Although the latter is likely impossible, it's easy to score tickets to the magical tour (if you can afford a ticket across the pond, that is). If it's something that you're in the process of planning, we have just one recommendation for you: go in October or November. The brilliant minds behind the studio tour's decorations have incorporated a "Dark Arts"-theme in honor of Halloween, lasting between Oct. 1 to Nov. 12. In addition to spectacularly creepy appearances from masked Death Eaters (who lurk around nearly every corner of the tour's eerie Forbidden Forest section, and will give you at least 50 heart attacks), there are also over 100 floating pumpkins hovering in the iconic Great Hall set. »

You Probably Never Noticed This Object Disappearing From the Harry Potter Movies

10 October 2017 1:45 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Rewatching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the 100th time, I noticed something shocking. Ok, shocking is a stretch, but my curiosity was piqued as the Hogwarts students happily toss their hats into the air in the Great Hall at the conclusion of the film (spoiler alert). Where do the hats go? After the first movie in the series, we never see the students wearing their classic black pointed hats again. Why, exactly, do they stop wearing them? Alas, a Google search brought up a Reddit thread called "What happened to the hats?" with a few ideas. My favorite is probably this one from Reddit user trihedron: "They threw them up into the air and forgot them in Sorcerer's Stone. The great hall was a mess with so many forgotten hats Filch requested that hats should be banned from the end of the year ceremony." Image Source: Warner Bros. »

Here's the Magical Way Facebook and Twitter Are Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

26 June 2017 10:17 AM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

The first Harry Potter book—Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone—was released 20 years ago today, and if that's making you feel old, you're not alone. Fortunately, things like Facebook and Twitter are making that fact a little easier to swallow and a whole lot more magical with the way the platforms are celebrating J.K. Rowling's tale of wizardry. For example, on Facebook, when you type the words "Harry Potter," "Gryffindor," "Ravenclaw," "Hufflepuff," or "Slytherin" in a text post, they will light up in their respective house colors. To make things even more exciting, clicking on the magical words causes a wand »

The Dark Tower: Trailer Analysis

4 May 2017 11:05 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

Stephen King fans were a buzz earlier this week when the long awaited trailer for The Dark Tower debuted online. Starring Idris Elba as Roland The Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black, the story is a sort of sequel, sort of reinvention of the classic book series from Stephen King. Young Jake Chambers discovers another dimension called Mid-World. Discovering an evil force is intent on destroying The Dark Tower, Jake relies upon Roland Deschain, the last of a mystical brand of knights called Gunslingers, to help stop The Man in Black before all of reality is destroyed.

The opening of the trailer was a fun throwback to the third novel, The Waste Lands. Jake Chambers is having visions of an other worldly place. His shrink tells him what he saw was simply a dream and to ignore the whole thing. »

Why Ian McKellen Didn't Want to Play Dumbledore in Harry Potter

4 April 2017 12:47 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

While most fans of the Harry Potter movie franchise would associate the actor Michael Gambon with the iconic headmaster Albus Dumbledore, famed British actor Richard Harris originated the role. He appeared in the first two movies, 2001's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and 2002's Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, before passing away in the fall of 2002, just weeks before Chamber of Secrets hit theaters. While Michael Gambon took over the role for the next six movies, another iconic big screen wizard could have played the role, Ian McKellen. The actor revealed during a BBC HardTalk interview that he was approached to take over for Richard Harris, but there was a very good reason why he didn't do so.

During his appearance on HardTalk, which recently surfaced on YouTube, interviewer Stephen Sackur mentioned that there was a time where Richard Harris himself criticized fellow British actors Ian McKellen, »

The Forbidden Forest isn't so forbidden anymore. Harry Potter's Luna Lovegood and Fred and George Weasley reunited at the star-studded opening of the Forbidden Forest, which is part of the Warner Bros. Studios Tour in London. Evanna Lynch, Oliver Phelps and James Phelps, who played Luna, Fred and George, respectively, posed in front of the gates to the once off-limits area, and looked even more grown up than when we last saw them. They also stopped to stand nearby a beloved hippogriff. Warwick Davis, who played Professor Filius Flitwick, a Gringotts bank teller in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and voiced Griphook (played by Verne Troyer), joined the trio for the fun night out. The Only Story More Magical Than Harry Potter Is J.K. Rowling's Own Journey

8 March 2017 4:30 PM, PST | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

With half a billion Harry Potter books printed in more than 70 languages worldwide, it's safe to say that a large portion of the human population has experienced the magical journey of the so-named child wizard. But not everybody knows the equally gripping story of Potter creator J.K. Rowling, whose rags-to-riches tale includes many hardships, spans several countries, and continues to unfold. According to Rowling's own website, "Jo conceived the idea of Harry Potter in 1990 while sitting on a delayed train from Manchester to London King's Cross." The then-aspiring author spent the next several years mapping out every plot in her magical universe by hand, often on paper scraps. "Mid-twenties life circumstances were poor and I really plummeted," Rowling later said of this period. After the death of her mother in 1991, Rowling left an unfulfilling job in London for a blank slate in Porto, Portugal. Working as an English teacher by »

Scholastic has been rebooting the Harry Potter book (so to speak) with illustrated editions, and the latest one deserves a spot on your wall. Jim Kay is doing the art, and so far we've loved both the new Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and the version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Now we've gotten a peek at the third installment, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which hits shelves on Oct. 3. Every square centimeter of this cover is thoughtfully crafted, from the destination sign - "Anywhere & Everywhere (Except Underwater)" - to Harry jumping out of harm's way in the bottom right corner. »

Emma Watson Gets Adorably Embarrassed While Watching a Harry Potter Outtake

7 March 2017 7:12 AM, PST | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Emma Watson stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night to promote her new film Beauty and the Beast, but she actually ended up reminiscing about Harry Potter in the process. During the show, the actress got incredibly flustered when the host played an outtake from the very first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Not only does she look so young in the clip, but in true Hermione form, she was actually mouthing all of her costars' lines during the scene. "I couldn't help myself," she said. "I was such a loser. I really love those books. I really wanted to do my job well, and I kind of overdid it." »

Emma Watson Hilariously Pranks Nanny on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' -- Watch!

3 March 2017 11:00 AM, PST | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Emma Watson wants a nanny, just like Corinne Olympios from The Bachelor.

On Friday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 26-year-old actress interviewed a potential nanny as part of a hilarious prank that she pulled off with a little help from Ellen DeGeneres.

"I'm looking for a nanny," Watson tells the woman, while DeGeneres feeds lines in her earpiece. "But here's the thing, you'd be my nanny."

"I got the idea from Corinne from The Bachelor," Watson adds.

The nanny, who happens to be a Bachelor fan, doesn't seem to mind caring for an adult. (She thinks it's "awesome.")

But Watson has even more crazy requests.

The British star pretends to be "very particular" about food (no crust on her sandwiches ) and drinks (she likes Red Bull, but not milk), before throwing a mini-tantrum, while the nanny »

How That New Beauty and the Beast Clip May Have Referenced Harry Potter

21 February 2017 3:10 PM, PST | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Disney has just released a new clip from Beauty and the Beast, and there's something fun in it you might have missed. It's a snippet of the classic song "Belle," in which our heroine skips and sings through the streets of her "provincial town" and introduces us to all its characters along the way. So, what's the fun part, other than the fact that we get to see one of the most beloved Disney fairy tales come to life? Well, it would probably have to be the slight Harry Potter reference that seems to have been slipped in! If you're feeling a little incredulous, you're not alone. I mean, why would Disney feel compelled to nod at Harry Potter in a story that takes place universes away from the Wizarding World? Well, let's look at the evidence. At one point in the one-minute clip, Belle runs into Monsieur Jean, who »

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Finds Its New R2-D2 Actor

The Star Wars world had a pretty rough go last year. It has now been revealed that 57-year-old actor Jimmy Vee will be filling those very big shoes and portraying R2-D2 in Star Wars 8.

According to Express, Jimmy Vee, who starred in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and has also worked quite a bit in Doctor Who over the years will now be the man responsible for bringing R2-D2 to the big screen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He actually »
