The U.K. could soon lose another one of its acting talents to the lures of the U.S.

‘The Doctors: The Jon Pertwee Years’ DVD Review

8 March 2017 4:01 AM, PST | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

When it comes to Doctor Who, the character often wins over the audiences because they are kind-hearted and in many ways, are the saviour (or Doctor) we need. While a lot of focus does get given to the ‘new’ breed of Doctors, for fans of the old school we are spoilt for choice with who is the best. One that is high on my list has to be Jon Pertwee, which is why The Doctors: The Jon Pertwee Years was such a joy to watch.

A collection of interviews, The Doctors: The Jon Pertwee Years features Jon Pertwee himself, Katy Manning (Jo Grant), Caroline John (Liz Shaw), Nicholas Courtney (The Brigadier), Richard Franklin (Captain Yates), and John Levene (Sergeant Benton). Interviewed by the voice of the Daleks, Nicholas Briggs. Each interview with the stars of Doctor Who is around one hour in length, so you can imagine how interesting the Jon Pertwee one is. »

Every week, one will be able to see the cream of the crop (or perhaps some simply interesting picks) of streaming titles (new and old) across platforms such as Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, and more (note: U.S. only). Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.

Catfight (Onur Tukel)

Who knew that one of the year’s most potent representations of America’s addiction to abrasive conflict would be Anne Heche and Sandra Oh beating each other to a pulp? Onur Tukel’s Catfight is an unabashedly silly and political film, but it’s also a funny one, with its two lead actresses literally and figuratively hurling themselves into their roles. British TV networks Channel 4 and Virgin Media have each acquired U.S. series, with the former going for legal drama “The Good Fight” and the latter nabbing comedy “Imposters.”

The Good Fight” is a spinoff from “The Good Wife,” and is written by that series’ creators, Robert and Michelle King. The new show, the first original series from subscription streaming service CBS All Access, will air on Channel 4’s free-to-air channel More4, the British home of “The Good Wife.”

The show picks up one year after the events of the final episode of “The Good Wife.” A financial scam has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Maia (played by Rose Leslie from “Game of Thrones”), while simultaneously wiping out the savings of her mentor, Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski from “The Good Wife”). Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo from “The Good Wife”) at one of Chicago’s top law »
