Anna Faris Is Wedding Banned and Gives Ryan Reynolds Tmi

17 November 2009 9:27 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

It looks like Anna Faris is going to have a very busy 2010.  A couple of weeks ago we told you about her plans to visit Jellystone Park next year when she stars in the Yogi Bear movie.  Now we have news today of two more projects that will star the talented young comedienne.  She has just signed on to the romantic comedies Wedding Banned with Robin Williams and Tmi with Ryan Reynolds.  Hit the jump for details on both projects.

According to THR, Anna Faris and Robin Williams will co-star in Wedding Banned. The story will revolve around a long-divorced couple who kidnap their daughter on her wedding day to prevent her from making the same mistakes they did.  As you can imagine, the parents rekindle their relationship as they elude cops and the angry groom.  Faris will star as the daughter and Robin Williams is currently signed on to play the father. »

Ryan, Faris get Tmi

17 November 2009 1:14 AM, PST | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

Some relations are based on a full disclosure policy; everything out in the open. While sometimes that works out well, other times that can be a little too much information for some people. Hence, Tmi. Because no phenomena in modern relationships will go unexplored in a romantic comedy, Universal has set up Tmi, a project that will star Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris as a couple where honesty wasn't always the best policy. The film was written by Marc Klein (Serendipity) and Reynolds will »

Anna Faris And Ryan Reynolds Giving Us Tmi

16 November 2009 9:00 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

There are few people I'm happier to see in a comedy than Ryan Reynolds, and the idea of the two of them teaming up seems almost too good to be true. While promising talent is never a guarantee of a good movie, we've got two great reasons to be optimistic about Tmi, a comedy about oversharing in a relationship that will star Reynolds and Faris. The script, according to Variety, comes from Serendipity writer Marc Klein and someone calling herself Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith, a nickname that I will choose not to hold again her. There's no more information in the piece than the basic pitch, but it's not hard to imagine Reynolds and Faris telling each other a series of inappropriate things and getting into all kinds of trouble as a result. Sure, it could still turn out terribly, but Reynolds and Faris are about as funny as people can »

Buzz Quiz: How Well Do You Know John Cusack?

10 November 2009 4:44 PM, PST | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

I will always have a soft spot for John Cusack thanks to his memorable '80s roles as the sharp but self-deprecating underdog. (You know you love Lloyd Dobler!) As years pass he continues to pop up in movies -whether he's playing the sweet hero in a rom-com (Serendipity), or a record-store owner in the midst of a breakup (High Fidelity). This Friday he'll be a dad facing the end of the world in 2012. Sure, you're probably familiar with his films, but just how sharp are you? Test your I.Q. by taking my quiz! Take the quiz »

Kris Allen Fans Weigh In With More Bad Album Title Ideas

8 October 2009 10:39 AM, PDT | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

Yesterday, we posted a silly blog entry about what we hoped Kris Allen wouldn't name his major label debut (which comes out on November 17). And you guys showed up in droves to make your own suggestions. Some of your comments made me giggle, some of them made me shake my head, and all of them were appreciated.

Since "Idol" album news is fairly dry today (aside from Allison Iraheta's first single becoming available for download), I thought it'd be fun to count down my favorite fan suggestions for album titles Kris Allen should avoid.

5: I'm Kris Allen and You're Not

MTV.com user "Lois" was clearly piggybacking on my Not Adam Lambert joke, but she twisted my innocent jab against a couple angry Glamberts into a vicious attack on all Lambert lovers. Peace and love, Lois! You're only getting a shout-out here because I appreciate your Chevy Chase reference. »

Peter Chelsom To Direct Last Vegas

21 August 2009 12:39 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Peter Chelsom, the British director whose eclectic CV includes movies as diverse as Hear My Song, Funny Bones, Serendipity and, erm, Hannah Montana: The Movie, has lined up his next project.Fresh from the commercial success of that Montana movie, the talented Chelsom has signed to direct Last Vegas, a comedy about four older gentlemen who decamp to Sin City for a stag weekend when one of their number decides to get hitched.Sounds familiar? Well, it’s The Hangover with colostomy bags. Very Bad Things with a free bag of Werther’s Originals. What Happens In Vegas with bus passes, and a faint smell of urine. But, while it may sound thuddingly unoriginal, Chelsom is a fine director, and we trust him to elevate the material. However, he’s also acutely aware of the comparisons that will be made, and welcomes them, even telling Variety that The Hangover’s »

Romantic Comedy-Con

28 July 2009 8:34 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

Drew Dernavich, cartoonist for the New Yorker, really wanted to be sent to the San Diego Comic-Con this year. He didn't get that lucky:

Unfortunately, I was sent to cover the 2009 Romantic Comedy-Con, held—where else?—at the top of the Empire State Building, the place where Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks finally met in “Sleepless in Seattle.” It’s a little crowded for a convention, but it’s being catered by—who else?—Katz’s Deli, the scene of Meg Ryan’s famous “orgasm” in “When Harry Met Sally.” Every joker up here thinks it’s so funny to eat a grilled cheese and then do their best fake moaning scene, and it’s getting tiresome.

When people go to the Comic-Con, they make these elaborate costumes and attend as Spider Man or Ninja Turtles or Darth Vader, so I thought I’d try and attend the Romantic Comedy-Con in the same spirit. »

Police Open Investigation In Gordon Suicide

22 May 2009 12:10 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

French police have opened an investigation into the suicide of actress Lucy Gordon.

The British actress - who appeared in movies including Spider-Man 3, Frost and Serendipity - was found dead at her Paris apartment on Wednesday, just two days before her 29th birthday.

The Times of London reported on Thursday that Gordon hanged herself. Her body was found at her apartment at la Rue des Petites Ecuries after her boyfriend, who was reportedly asleep in the apartment when Gordon killed herself, alerted a nearby shopkeeper.

The actress is believed to have been devastated after the recent suicide of a close friend in the U.K.

Gordon's father, Richard, spoke out on Friday, to put an end to speculation over the circumstances of 28-year-old Gordon's death by confirming two suicide notes had been found at her Paris home - one written to her parents and the other outlining her wishes for the disposal of her estate.

He said: "There is no question of foul play. Lucy committed suicide."

Gordon recently finished filming on a biopic of singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg in which she played British actress Jane Birkin. Trailers for the movie were shown at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this week (begs18May09). »

Box Office Weekend Ahead – Can Hannah Montana stop Fast and Furious?

Disney unspools its next teen-drawing venture in “Hannah Montana: The Movie” into 3,115 venues, certainly pulling in tons of fans of the eagerly followed series. The question? Do they have what it takes to down “Fast and Furious” in its sophomore weekend at play? “Furious” has turned in the biggest gross of the year so far with $70.9 million grossed and a total of over $85 million pocketed thus far. “Montana” is helmed by Peter Chelsom, known for crowd-pleasing films like “The Mighty,” “Serendipity” and “Shall We Dance.” Two other wide openers will be vying for a slice of the weekend’s earnings but should pose no threat to the first two films. The first is the mall cop comedy “Observe and Report” which finds 2,727 locations and stars the ever-popular Seth Rogen as well as Michael Peña and Anna Faris. Six Studio Journeymen We Wish Would Return to Their Indie Roots

9 April 2009 4:39 AM, PDT | ifc.com | See recent IFC news »

There was a reason to feel queasy after watching the trailer for "The Hannah Montana Movie," and it wasn't just the sight of Miley Cyrus fighting off Tyra Banks for a pair of garish high heels. No, it was seeing the end credits that read "Directed by Peter Chelsom." That name may not mean much to most, but for those who discovered Chelsom during the mid-'90s by way of his trilogy of Blackpool-set showbiz dramedies -- the short "Treacle," 1992's "Hear My Song" and his best, the 1995 Jerry Lewis-Oliver Platt father-son vaudeville comedy "Funny Bones" -- an adaptation of a Disney Channel show is nothing short of a crushing disappointment.

Now, times are tough and filmmakers have to eat. And perhaps such disappointment comes as a result of investing too much in the auteur theory, but there is a class of filmmakers whose careers haven't gone the »
