Sibling Rivalry: Vote for Your Favorite Brothers and Sisters

10 May 2012 7:00 AM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

They may be brothers and sisters in real life, but in the acting world, sibling actors are often fierce competitors. Sometimes they're even up for the same roles.

You could call these cases of sibling rivalry being played out on the big screen a real family affair, along the lines of "Mom always liked you best."

We've come up with a list of top actors who have competing brothers or sisters. Vote on your favorites of each brother-brother, brother-sister or sister-sister pairing -- and may the best siblings win.

The Wilsons

Luke Wilson: This Wilson brother has had a vibrant career since the mid-'90s, when he hooked up with Wes Anderson for "Bottle Rocket." He's known and loved for comedies like "Legally Blonde" and "Charlie's Angels," but occasionally takes a turn into darker filmic territory like "3:10 to Yuma."

James Franco Admits 'Tristan & Isolde' Was "A Big Mistake"

19 April 2012 1:25 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

James Franco has played many characters over the years -- James Dean, Aron Ralston, Saul Silver, Daniel Desario -- but few would leave him as bitter as his part as Tristan in "Tristan + Isolde." The actor has previously talked about the troubled production of that 2006 Kevin Reynolds film, but he once again lays it candidly out in an article he recently penned for The Daily Beast.

"I learned a lot from doing the film 'Tristan & Isolde.' It was a big mistake. I was an overzealous young actor and wanted to make great movies. I read the script and wasn’t sure about it, but my acting teacher said it was a role that a young Brando or Olivier would do. I thought, 'Ok…I guess,'" Franco recounts. One of the items he has talked about previously is the extensive training he did for the movie...which would end »

James Franco to Strike a Pose as Photographer Robert Mapplethorpe

12 January 2012 11:33 AM, PST | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Either he has a secret identical twin brother named Frank Jameso or he's taking the same drug Bradley Cooper was on in "Limitless," but it's starting to become a cliché that James Franco appears in like 100 movies a year.

Now the actor/inventor of the 28-hour day has taken on yet another ambitious project, this time a biopic on New York photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.

Indiewire reports that Franco, who bears a decent resemblance, will play the art world figure whose beautiful black and white portraits of everything from celebrities to ultra-explicit sexual acts continue to spark controversy and high auction prices long after his 1989 death from AIDS. His former-lover/friend Patti Smith and mentor/companion Sam Wagstaff are just some of the juicy roles yet to cast.

"Mapplethorpe" is the feature debut of documentarian Ondi Timoner, whose brilliant 2009 film "We Live In Public" is one of the most fascinating deconstructions »

The Alamo Drafthouse’s Top 10 Films of 2011

9 January 2012 5:00 AM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

It's no secret that the Alamo Drafthouse is the best theater chain in the country. Sure, it's small, but the passion they have to create the perfect environment to watch a movie is unparalleled. Case in point, their hugely popular No Texting [1] public service announcements, incredible in-theater food selection, stunning repertory screenings and so much more. As the new year begins, the entire staff of the Drafthouse voted on their favorite films of 2011 and selected /Film as the outlet to exclusively premiere their list. It's extremely eclectic (The Muppets, Beginners and 13 Assassin all made the cut) but you'd be hard pressed to find a better cross section of the best 2011 had to offer. Check it out after the jump. Here's the explanation of the list and how it came together. Members of the Alamo Drafthouse team each submitted their Top 10 films of 2011, which were then aggregated into one master list of spectacular cinema. »
