Billboard Music Awards 2013: Tracy Morgan is a good but ill-fitting host

Anyone who's watched an episode of "30 Rock" should know the brand of humor that Tracy Morgan brings with him. The comedian didn't disappoint when he hosted the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, cracking jokes about listing off the black artists at the awards show first and having no one look quite as attractive as Condoleeza Rice. And when he stumbled in his introductions of presenters like Chloe Moretz and gave a strange but well-meant shout out to Michael Jackson, it was in line with the type of personality Morgan has developed over the years.

All in all, Morgan actually did a pretty decent job hosting the Billboard Music Awards -- or at least as good as could have been expected. But who thought that Morgan would be the right comedian to host an awards show that honors musicians? Morgan isn't in the same generation as Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, »

Steve Harvey Honored With Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

13 May 2013 6:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Steve Harvey wakes up every morning at 4. He showers, eats a piece of fruit, grabs some coffee and immediately goes to studio to record his radio show from 5-9 a.m.

By 9:30 he’s in a post-production meeting and then segues to another board meeting for his daytime talk show, “Steve Harvey,” which swept February ratings in the coveted 25-54 age group for women.

Harvey tapes that show until 12:45 p.m., takes a 20- to 30-minute break, goes back to taping, attends a few more meetings, goes to the gym, and then retires to bed.

This cycle repeats five days a week from late August until the beginning of May. During his talkshow hiatus, Harvey handles gameshow hosts duties for “Family Feud,” which recently pulled ahead of “Wheel of Fortune” in the 25-54 women’s age demographic for the first time in years.
