Freedom through Letters

When the inmate Maria do Socorro Nobre reads an article about the Polish artist Franz Krajcberg in Veja magazine, she decides to write a letter to him. Socorro was sentenced to more than twenty-one years in a prison for women in Salvador, Bahia, while Franz is a tormented artist that lost his family and lived his childhood in a ghetto in Poland but survived the holocaust. "Socorro Noble" is a documentary about Maria do Socorro Nobre, who spent seven years in jails in Ilhéus, Itabuna and Salvador and helped illiterate inmates to write letters. When Walter Salles discovered one of the letters that Socorro sent to Franz, he decided to make this documentary. Further, her attitude was the source of inspiration to the director Walter Salles for the awarded "Central do Brasil" and the character Dora performed by Fernanda Montenegro. In the end, "Socorro Nobre" is an honest testimony how life can be changed with simple attitudes. My vote is six.
