Engrossing study of cowboy life.

Author: kit-19 from Las Cruces, NM
19 September 2005

Oscar winning film editor Elmo Williams came to Deming, NM to film THE TALL TEXAN. While there he met some authentic cowboys and used them as extras in the film. After finishing TEXAN he managed to get some 35mm color film and directed and edited this Document. Then he sold it to Lippert Pictures, the theatrical distributor of TEXAN, and it got a significant play around the country. It features old timers who came west in the 1880's, and youngsters alike. In a nutshell, it is a very interesting study of cowboy life that is beautifully photographed, scored and narrated. I felt kind of melancholy when it was over realizing that the life as set forth in this film is just about gone forever.
