Not as savage as it should have been.

A cartoon that is based on the comic series created by Erik Larsen. A super-strong green fin-headed Freak with amnesia becomes a cop in the Chicago P.D. While trying to discover his reason for being, he thwarts other super-Freaks that the human police can't handle. I stopped collecting the comic after ten issues, but I know of the storylines and *all* of them are TWISTED! I remember reading the comic-mags: "God vs. the Devil" and an appearance by Hitler's brain, and those are only two examples. In the title, there's sex sex sex, hyper-mega-violence of all kinds, profanity, and everything twisted (there, I said it again) imaginable.

Sadly, this USA network cartoon series had *none* of that! It became an X-men-ish but very kiddie show, pitifully sanitized, and ultimately routine. Plus, veteran voice actor Jim Cummings (the voice of Darkwing Duck, for crying out loud) was the Dragon, and he just didn't fit the bill. "Savage Dragon" should have been what HBO's "Spawn" did. That particular show had the sex, violence, and twisted-ness that the comic did NOT have.

To be fair, "Savage Dragon" was okay if nothing else was on, or if you didn't know about what it *really* was all about!
