After his success on bigger movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean and The Ring, Gore Verbinski returns behind the camera to bring us A Cure For Wellness, a project that the director helped to create with writer Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road). The film follows Lockhart (DeHaan), a Wall Street stockbroker who travels to the Swiss Alps to find his company’s CEO from a medical centre that is surrounded in mystery and soon he begins to suspect that not everything is what it seems. For Verbinski, who co-wrote the story, it was the traditional nature of the horror genre that excited him with the project rather than going for “jump scares”:

‘A Cure For Wellness’ Super Bowl Trailer: Gore Verbinski’s Creepy New Horror Film Poses as a Pharmaceutical Commercial

Last night, the Super Bowl featured an intense matchup between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, ending with a Patriots comeback in overtime after they were down by 18 points at the half. The television event also featured a host of funny, compelling commercials, including a few for upcoming films, like Gore Verbinski’s new horror film “A Cure for Wellness.” The Super Bowl trailer poses as a normal commercial for some unknown “wellness cure” before suddenly taking a scary turn.
