Straight-laced Rose breaks off relations with her party girl sister, Maggie, over an indiscretion involving Rose's boyfriend. The chilly atmosphere is broken with the arrival of Ella, the grandmother neither sister knew existed.
features several faces that have gone on to mini-major fame (one of the new Pirates of the Caribbean, for example, and the actress who played "Poppy" Fresh on the WB's cult hit Popular), and cameron diaz in a role she was built to play ... a pre- and during-fame, starlet with random poetic aspirations.
nothing in the film is exactly spectacular or revelatory, but at the same time it is a curious oddity for fans of independent, art, and student films. i wiled away an afternoon with a friends' copy of this with absolutely no regret and genuinely enjoyed the look and feel of it.
