Trivia

The shooting started several times, and was halted for censorship reasons - the project was banned by the Ministry of Justice - and harsh shooting conditions, and finally abandoned. All material was inexplicably lost in the 1950s. See more »

The movie that never was
21 December 2015 | by See all my reviews

This is one of the great mysteries of the IMDb site .Seven people (you read well) voted and gave 7,7 to a movie ....which does not exist !The movie was never completed (inclement weather and production),and about 20 min of the movie were reportedly edited;but in his memoirs Marcel Carné himself wrote that he did not know what happened to these reels...All that remains is photographs.

People interested in Marcel Carné's career (that is to write any cine buff interested in the French cinema) should try to see "Carnet (sic) De Naufrage" (2005),an absorbing documentary dealing with the shooting of the doomed movie.Made by Claudine Bourbigot and Elisabeth Feytit,it is currently the best way to know more about this failed project, although many points remain obscure:for instance ,what was Arletty's part? I guess the users I'm taking about above actually saw the documentary.
