Recap: 'Outlander' - Castle Leoch: Official home of the Scottish Santa Guild

16 August 2014 7:33 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Welcome back, ladies and gentleman (men?). Last week we left Claire in the tender care of Scottish Santa and his merry band of disoriented-by-female-agency helper elves. Will Jamie (not Jaime from “Game of Thrones” as I was spelling it last week…though let’s be honest ladies, we wouldn’t kick Nikolaj Coster-Waldau off the horse, if you know what I’m saying) and Claire continue their tentative friendship? Or will figuring out day-to-day life in Castle Leoch overwhelm our combat nurse? Let’s find out! ********************* We begin exactly where we ended last week, with Claire entering an ancient stone castle on horseback. Only now all the hay and peasant structures have moved inside because TV shows have budgets dammit, so they’re getting as much use out of Leaning Shack #4 as they can. To differentiate from the outside, everything now also has a layer of mud on it. Spring »

Adam West To Appear As Himself In Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

17 July 2014 5:33 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The official Lego Batman Twitter account announced this week that former Batman and current mayor of Quahog, Adam West, will appear as himself in the upcoming Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. The account also revealed that the actor will be featured as a special guest during the games panel at San Diego Comic-Con next week.

Following in the footsteps of 2012′s Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, Lego Batman 3 once again lets players control Lego figurine versions of their favorite DC Comics heroes and villains. While Batman is still the main attraction here (hence his name in the title), the rest of the Justice League will also need to help out in order to defeat Brainiac in this space-set adventure.

While the youth of today may be more familiar with Christian Bale’s portrayal of the Dark Knight, Adam West was one of the first actors to portray the iconic superhero. »

'The Flash' Spin-Off Teased At The End Of 'Arrow' But All I Can See Is His Chin

13 May 2014 11:40 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Now that audiences are on board with Oliver Queen as a poor man's Batman, it's time to up the ante. Sure billionaires with beautiful toys and a Robin Hood complex count when it comes to superheroes but they're easier for general audiences to swallow than a guy with legit superhuman speed. After all, it's still (barely) more believable that a rich guy would use his power for good than a lab accident would spawn superpowers instead of class action lawsuits. But bets are off the table with Barry Allen/The Flash getting his own spin-off. You can catch your first glimpse of him in action at the end of this 'Arrow' season finale promo. The CW also put out the official image and logo for 'The Flash.' Barry Allen's mug features prominently as he appears to be caught on camera mid-dash. It's a solid piece of promotional art. The »

Fred Seibert isn't as widely known as Walt Disney, but the founder of the animation production company Frederator Studios harbors a similar blend of creative desire and entrepreneurial spirit. Since the nineties, Seibert—who, in addition to playing key managerial roles at MTV, Hanna-Barbera and Nickelodeon, served as an early investor in Tumblr—has been responsible for helping to produce some of the most influential animated television shows of the last few decades, from "The Fairly OddParents" to "The Powerpuff Girls."  In more recent years, the New York-based Seibert has turned his attentions to producing animation for a new generation. With Cartoon Hangover, its popular YouTube channel, Frederator Studios has commissioned numerous animated short films that the company has then parlayed into running series, most prominently with the ever-popular "Adventure Time," created by 31-year-old Pendleton Ward. This is an interesting alliance for animation veteran Fred Seibert whose executive producer credits include Adventure TimeThe Fairly OddParentsThe Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter’s Laboratory. Animator and director Simon Tofield’s Simon’s Cat is YouTube‘s No. 2 animation channel with 2.75M subscribers. Under the new deal Seibert’s Channel Frederator Network will handle all of Simon’s Cat‘s advertising and distribution including targeted ads that use TrueView and Adwords to cash in on sales of Simon’s Cat licensed merchandise. That could be significant. Simon’s Cat animation appears on Japan’s Nhk and Italy’s LA7, with more than 1.5M books sold in at least 27 countries. There are more than 120 related products including stationary, gifting and apparel. The alliance is “proof of the fact that the internet has ushered in a new golden age of animation,” Seibert says. »

YouTube Millionaires: Cartoon Hangover Provides TV Quality On YouTube

9 January 2014 8:26 AM, PST | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

For years, Frederator Studios has created some of the most popular and innovative cartoons on TV, including The Fairly OddParents and Adventure Time. The studio's web home, Cartoon Hangover, shows Frederator's similar aptitude for producing web content. As Cartoon Hangover has crossed one million subscribers (and completed one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns ever), we talked to Frederator founder Fred Seibert about his approach to YouTube content. Tubefilter: What do you have to say to Cartoon Hangover's one million YouTube subscribers? Fred Seibert: Frederator loves you! Tf: What do you think Cartoon Hangover offers that other YouTube animation channels do not? Fs: That's hard to answer since there are so many approaches to online animation. Cartoons, motion graphics, videogame parodies. That being said, our strong suit, ultimately, has been our approach to talent. The great talent that makes the films, of course. But also the expert--and unique--programming group we've put together from scratch. »
