Lady Edgware, the well-known stage actress Jane Wilkinson, has a dilemma in that her husband has consistently refused to give her a divorce. She asks Hercule Poirot to visit the man to see if there is any possibility of convincing him. Lord Edgware is nothing short of nasty, treating all those around him very badly. When he is found dead, there is no great surprise, but there certainly are a good number of suspects. The police believe Lady Edgware to be the culprit, but she has a cast-iron alibi, having attended a private dinner over the time her husband was killed. There is also the man's nephew, who would inherit his fortune, and his personal assistant, whom he treated very badly; and then there is the family butler, who clearly has his own interests at heart. Good mystery, amazing Suched and beautiful Helen Grace!
Lord Edgware Dies is one of the best adaptations of Agatha Christie's work to the screen!
The script follows the book very closely and builds a very enjoyable mystery with all the right elements for the lovers of a good enigma! The plot is believable and while on some points it could be questioned it still holds up pretty well if you are not too hard on it! I found the killer to be a little predictable but still I was never sure until the end of how exactly the murder took place!
We also have the whole investigation team together again with every actor doing his job with tremendous class! Miss Lemon, Inspector Japp and of course good old Captain Hastings! They´re great! It's again a pleasure to watch David Suchet play Poirot! He made his mark on this legendary character and I have no doubt he is the best Hercule Poirot ever! With his charm and charisma, it's almost like watching our imagination come to life since he is the perfect picture of Christie's words! A word also to Helen Grace! She is absolutely gorgeous, very seductive and does a magnificent job portraying Jane Wilkinson! It's a pleasure to watch this very sexy and talented actress!
Lord Edgware Dies is a great film to spend your time trying to guess who did it and how and why while being in the company of such a terrific cast! In the end you'll see Poirot win again and you'll be happy and relaxed! I guarantee you!
