Super Hit Kannada Film starring Kamal Haasan.

This Kannada film which was produced in 1977 in Bangalore India has got the award for best screenplay from the State Government of Karnataka, has won the Indian President's award for best photography in Black and White for the year 1977, this film was screened in the International Film Festival of India then known as FILMOTSAVA78 in Chennai India.

"Kokila" was not only a hit film in its original State of Karnataka but also was a super hit in Tamil Nadu Madras in particular, that too in its original language Kannada without being dubbed to Tamil,In 1980 this film "KOKILA" Kannada has run for more than 140 days in Madras the capital city of Tamil Nadu,this record is yet to be broken by any other Kannada film for the past 28 years.

Even today Kamal Haasan fan's are chatting and talking about this film on internet and are eagerly waiting to see this film if it is once again released in theater's.

The Tamil daily news paper "Daily Thanthi" the number one daily news paper in Tamil Nadu, has written about this film "KOKILA" as one of the landmark film's of Kamal Haasan in its column "Varalatru Chuvadugal".

Kamal Haasan the hero of this film "Kokila" is an All India Cinema star who is popularly known as "Universal Hero" has acted in 6 Indian language films such as Tamil,Telugu,Malayalam,Kannada,Bengali and Hindi.In his latest film "Dasavatharam" he has acted in 10 different roles.

This was the first movie for Mohan who later became a popular star in Tamil cinema many of which were silver jubilee hits like "Payanangal Mudivadhila". Rojaramani one of the two heroine's became a popular heroine in Tamil,Telugu industry her son Tarun is a top star in Telugu film Industry. Shoba who played the title role won best actress award from the President of India for here performance in Tamil movie "Pasi".
