My politician wife and me.

No other French director released more movies than Mocky :at the furious rate of two or three movies a year .That is not to say that he did not make an interesting effort now and then ; but many of them suffered from his lack of craft or the focus to develop his ideas .....

.....or even select well among them .

"Le glandeur " has its moments ; a secretary of state's husband is a political farce , but it's also a pean to the joys of a layabout ,who wanders through the streets where he meets people ,make friends (or doesn't);he tries to find a job,but not too hard ......

A commission was invited for the first private screening and they blame sex, scatology , and perhaps laziness ; so the director issues a warning :"if you don't like it,you 're free to leave the theater "

Once more, Mocky botched the job: there's a huge gap between wit -which is present now and then- and vulgarity ; and good scenes (the wife lecturing her hubby in a schoolteacher voice , the "best before ..." in the supermarket, the mother's fictive occupation - it often happens in real life- , the sofa and the ticking (of a bomb?) ,the friendship with the nice black guy )But sometimes ,too many times, enough is enough and Mocky succumbs to his favorite vice: rudeness, vulgarities which run rampant and it's not funny anymore .
