Exclusive: WWE Superstar Seth Rollins on his new movie Armed Response and his WrestleMania goals

2 August 2017 8:26 AM, PDT | | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Author: Josh Wilding

Seth Rollins is one of the biggest WWE Superstars today. A two-time world champion, he’s headlined countless Pay-Per-Views and is responsible for one of the most memorable WrestleMania moments of all-time when he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Brock Lesnar. He’s also the cover star of the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game and is now set to take on his first major big screen role in WWE Studios’ upcoming Armed Response.

In the movie, a team of special forces soldiers approach the designer of a high-tech military compound to investigate the disappearance of another team guarding the facility. The compound, known professionally as a Temple, is an artificial intelligence powered facility designed for interrogating high-level prisoners. Upon entering the Temple, the soldiers find the team horrifically slaughtered but no evidence as to who is responsible.

WWE ‘SmackDown Live’ Commissioner Shane McMahon Walks Away From Helicopter Crash (Video)

19 July 2017 11:38 AM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Money talks — and apparently, it also walks … away from helicopter crashes. A chopper carrying WWE “SmackDown Live” commissioner and occasional in-ring performer Shane McMahon — the son of WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon — made an emergency landing today in the Atlantic Ocean near Gilgo Beach on Long Island, NY. The crash-landing occurred around 10:25 a.m. Et about a half-mile off shore, per WWE. Neither the pilot, nor the man who squared-circle fans lovingly refer to as Shane O Mac, were injured. Shane’s always been a tough guy, but this sets new precedent. Also Read: Wrestlemania 32: Watch Shane McMahon. »

Kevin Owens: The Face Of DVD Sales

Independence Day didn’t just see the return of John Cena to WWE, the Smackdown Live debut of Rusev and Will Smith overcoming an alien invasion. July 4th also saw the official release of Kevin Owens’ first WWE DVD, quite fitting for the current United States champion and self-proclaimed Face of America.

Kevin Owens allowed himself a moment of reflection on Twitter:

In 1995, my dad rented a VHS of WrestleMania 11 at this video store in my hometown of Marieville. Today, my parents bought my DVD there.

Trump Gets a Doj Smackdown in Photoshopped WWE Clip (Video)

3 July 2017 7:32 AM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Ok, Trump, so you can take down CNN — but Doj 3:16 says the FBI just kicked your a–. On Sunday, the President of the United States gleefully tweeted out an altered video from a past WWEWrestleMania,” in which he tackled Vince McMahon to the ground outside of the wrestling ring. In Trump’s version, however, McMahon had a CNN logo pasted over his face. Get it? That’s symbolism. The social media post inspired a bunch of memes mocking the former “Apprentice” host, but Buzzfeed’s Jesse McLaren’s effort took the cake. The former “Colbert Report” employee shared what happened a little. »

Conservative Commentator Bill Kristol Likens Trump Presidency to Fall of Roman Empire

2 July 2017 1:58 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Conservative analyst and commentator Bill Kristol said on Sunday that President Trump’s anti-Trump video tweet was “recapitulating the decline and fall of Rome.” Earlier Sunday, Potus tweeted a Reddit video clip altering a 2007 clip from Wrestlemania of the president and body-slamming and punching WWE CEO Vince McMahon, but with McMahon’s face replaced by a CNN logo. The tweet has evoked harsh criticism from both sides of the aisle for its violent and angry imagery aimed at the press, which is referred to as the “fourth estate” of the government. “The speed with which we’re recapitulating the decline and fall of Rome. »

Trump vs CNN: Potus Tweets Faked WWE Video of Himself Body-Slamming Network

President Trump continued his run of bizarre Twitter behavior on Sunday, tweeting a right-wing video meme that imagined himself body-slamming and pummeling a man with a CNN logo for a head. The footage — a grainy mirror image of a scene from a 2007 WrestleMania stunt involving Trump and WWE CEO Vince McMahon — shows a pink-tie-wearing Trump essentially jumping a suited figure on the side of a wrestling ring, tossing him to the ground and then punching him in the face before walking away in triumph. When Satire Becomes Real

On this week’s Smackdown, Jinder Mahal revealed the stipulation for his third WWE Championship match against Randy Orton: the dreaded Punjabi Prison. ‘Dreaded’ because the matches in it are usually pretty rubbish.

While a Steel Cage stipulation only has one layer of entrapment, the Punjabi Prison surrounds its competitors with two – an inner cage of bamboo, with an octagonal structure topped with ‘razor-sharp bamboo spikes’. It’s so successful, there’s only been two Punjabi Prison matches in WWE history, and the stipulation hasn’t been used in over a decade.

But according to satirical wrestling website KayFabe News – who publish humorously fake articles – this has been the plan all along.

Reddit user GeePrimus has unearthed a 2012 article from the site entitled: ‘Jinder Mahal only hired so WWE can use »

2011 was a different time. The first brand split had come to an end. The Anonymous Raw General Manager wasn’t going anywhere. And six years to the day tomorrow, WWE ran one of its best angles in recent times, with Cm Punk escaping through the crowd with the WWE Championship, blowing Vince McMahon a kiss, after beating John Cena in Money in the Bank’s main event.

Meanwhile, over in the UK during 2011, Raw’s current day Cruiserweight roster were wrestling for Dragon Gate.

Lucha Underground: The Cup Begins

15 June 2017 5:12 PM, PDT | | See recent LRM Online news »

The Cueto Cup Tournament began on Lucha Underground this week, seeing the competitors in Group A of the tournament facing off to see who would advance to the next round. The episode brought us some interesting matches as well as some storyline focus on the Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Johnny Mundo match that will occur at Ultima Lucha Tres.

The opening match between The Mack and Mala Suerte was hard fought but didn't need to be. Mala Suerte was not put in a position to look strong. He got some offense in during the match of course, preventing it from being a complete squash, yet Mala Suerte gained nothing from this match. The Mack came out a little worse for wear due to taking a long time to beat someone he should have soundly beaten. In a wrestling match, you ideally want to accomplish two things. How Tjp Got His Name

You might’ve noticed in recent weeks that Cruiserweight competitor Tj Perkins started going by the much faster to say abbreviation Tjp – meaning Cruiserweight matches on Raw can now be even shorter. But apparently word efficiency isn’t the only reason behind the name change.

On a recent episode of the Bryan and Vinny Show, Bryan Alvarez claimed Tjp is now so named because Vince McMahon hates the restaurant chain Perkins:

“Vince apparently Hates “Perkins”. He hates it, and he thinks it sucks…and he thinks that if people hear Tj Perkins, they’re gonna think of the f****** restaurant. So now he’s Tjp.”

This is yet another example of Vince’s food preferences potentially affecting WWE programming – with Chris Jericho revealing last week that his Wyatt Family / Shawn Michaels »

Being 71 years old and having repeatedly revolutionised the professional wrestling business, you’d think WWE Chairman Vince McMahon would be taking it easier in his seventh decade. Especially because he’s rather prone to randomly tearing quads. But he still refuses to skip leg day.

In an interview with Fightful earlier this week, former WWF, WCW and Tna booker Vince Russo revealed he recently reached out to Vince McMahon offering to ‘contribute’ to the current WWE product. Surprisingly, considering this is the man widely blamed for the death of WCW, Vince McMahon apparently replied.

Never one to pull punches, Russo’s frequent antagoniser Jim Cornette has elaborated a little more on how this exchange came about, revealing Russo’s efforts were a bit more frequent than he lets on:

Former WWF booker Vince Russo – the man who uses the word ‘bro’ like most people use punctuation, and someone widely credited, at least in part, for the failures of WCW and Tna – has revealed to Fightful that he recently reached out to Vince McMahon, and Vince McMahon replied:

“I’ve reached out to Vince McMahon in the past week. He got back to me…I didn’t use the word help. You don’t tell Vince McMahon he needs help. I said ‘if you want me to contribute, I’d love to once again contribute.”

Although Russo gets a considerable amount of flack, much of which is well deserved, he was also a significant part of the hottest period in the company’s history: the Attitude Era. And in McMahon, he found a very effective creative »

Review: Lucha Underground: All Night Long...Again

31 May 2017 9:38 PM, PDT | | See recent LRM Online news »

Lucha Underground has returned tonight on El Rey Network for their Mid-Season Premiere. Tonight's episode saw Lucha Underground Champion Johnny Mundo face off against challenger The Mack in an All Night Long match.

What is an All Night Long match you may be asking? Simple. It's an Iron Man match taking place during the run time for the episode. Iron Man matches are tough to pull off. In the days where the audience was not exactly aware of the fact that what they were seeing was entertainment, pulling off hour long matches would be the norm. The biggest wrestling organization until Vince McMahon came along was the National Wrestling Alliance. They would send their champion to territories around the world facing challengers in matches that routinely went an hour. While the matches mostly ended up in a draw, the popular wrestler in a territory would end the match looking like »

Taking place at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, the show features the best and brightest of the WWE Nxt brand. Since the Nxt brand has consistently put on some of the best shows of the year for the WWE, I thought we'd take a few minutes to go through the card for the show while I offer some predictions on who may win.

WWE Backlash: The Five Best Matches in the Event’s History

In preparation for this Sunday’s event, Liam Hoofe takes a look back at the best matches in the history of WWE Backlash

The return of WWE Backlash last year was met with an enthusiastic response from the WWE Universe, and with good reason. The PPV, which traditionally followed on from WrestleMania, has given us some great shows since its birth in 1999. The PPV itself would often be a better wrestling event than WrestleMania in fact, with it effectively being a re-run of the card with all of the pomp and spectacle removed.

Needless to say, the show has given us many great matches and moments over the years as well. So to get you warmed up for this Sunday’s upcoming event, here is a look back at some of the best matches from the PPV’s history, and no, Shawn Michaels and God Vs The McMahons didn’t make the list. »
