The best game I have played (one of them).
1 July 2002 | by (Devon,England) – See all my reviews

Shenmue is like playing a game and watching a film at the same time,in fact,it is like living real life. You play a man who after watching his father be murdered, goes after the killer.

You interact in different locations in your home village and you have to keep asking round to get information. This isn't everything,as you go along, people will start fights with you and you might have to solve puzzles to resolve the mystery. Shenmue is like living real life, everything seems real (except time which travels by quickly). You can do almost anything, whether it's going to the arcades, talking to another person, spending and limiting your money, working on a forklift. All these are actions of real life. As you immerse more into these activities, you become more in danger with different gangs and different people. If the game lacks anything,it would have to be the shortage, you just can't seem to get enough of it.Apart from that, the game is excellent. Soon I will play the sequel which is set in Hong Kong. The fight scenes and battles are brilliant (especially in the end),there are two types,QTE and just normal beat em up battles. On the QTE,a button combination appears on the screen and you have to hit buttons on the pad before they dissapear. The other mode of fighting is just the same as a fighting game (only better).I strongly reccommend this game to anyone. No regret.I rate 10/10.
