A fragment appears in the documentary GLORIOUS TECHNICOLOR

The fascinating early history of color in films and of the Technicolor Corporation itself is part of the hour long documentary- GLORIOUS TECHNICOLOR. Surviving fragments from early processes are shown in the early part of the film, including a ten second excerpt close up of Lillian Russell in Kinemacolor from this film. It is wonderful to actually see her in life (she only appeared in two silent short subjects). Very busty and with oddly short arms, but the face is radiant. The documentary is part of the two disc DVD set that makes up THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD recent release. The documentary also includes a brilliantly hued, fifteen second test film of the Marx Brothers -their only color sequence - as well as five seconds of the surviving Laurel and Hardy fragment from THE ROGUE SONG.
