Hojo Hojo!
Petey-106 October 2011
Imppa Ryynänen angers his father and has to leave. He finds work from the Pirtamo's farm, where he meets a man that calls himself Simpauttaja. This man starts having some hanky-panky with Kuuno Taivainen's wife.Imppa's brother Otto is a little odd.His favorite hobby is to make wooden women on the shore.Simpauttaja (1975) is a TV movie directed by Veikko Kerttula. He won a Jussi award from Best Direction. The movie is based on the debut novel by Heikki Turunen, written in 1973.I haven't read the book, I don't know if I will in the future. There's a great line of cast in this movie, starting with Ahti Kuoppala, who plays the role of Simpauttaja.Pekka Räty is in his debut as Imppa Ryynänen.Veikko Tiitinen and Rauha Valkonen, who were actually married, play his parents Hilppa and Eeli.Ahti Jokinen is the simple son Otto.Anna-Maija Kokkinen plays Imppa's love interest Marketta Willman.Leni Katajakoski and Esko Hukkanen are Juuli and Kuuno Taivainen.Risto Salmi portrays Jomppa Kaunismäki.Aapo Vilhunen plays the part of Hemmo Sysmänaho.Reino Kalliolahti plays Jolle Pirtamo and Mauri Saikkonen is his son Jouko.Maija-Liisa Majanlahti plays Juoksevansalon Vanhapiika.I've seen this movie with my family a couple of times.Last time I saw it three days ago on Monday on a DVD, which my brother had borrowed from the library. The movie has a lot of legendary stuff, starting with Simpauttaja's greeting Hojo Hojo. And the first scene with Imppa and his father on the manure field is very funny. It's quite hilarious when Kuuno forces his wife to go see Simpauttaja. Also the eastern Finland view looks quite amazing.Finnish drama comedy doesn't get too much better from this.
