A Touching Story...
CiboMatto16 May 2000
I watched this movie on ABC a couple of months ago. It was a touching story about the true life of Loretta Claiborne(Kimberly Elise), a mentally retarded woman. It tells about her life through anger, happiness, and reaching her dreams. She was introduced to what she loved, Track and Field, from Janet McFarland(Camryn Manheim). She starts to win track meets and everything seems fine. But There are still many problems she faces as she goes on through life... Camryn Manheim Acted Well in this Drama. But Kimberly Elise Gave A SUPERB acting role as Claiborne. A Great Movie. Great For the Family with many great messages kids can learn from. I'm a guy and I rarely cry, but this movie made me cry. Grade : B+ or 8/10

Loved the movie. Inspired me and made me laugh, it made me cry too. Anybody who wants a good movie to watch should watch this movie. It will let you understand how someone rose above and was able to overcome how angry she was. Watch it, you won't regret it.

Yeah here's the truth the movie is awful

The only good things about this one is the ending and Special Olympics broadcast stock footage but that's it. It's has mean spirited and violent tone, unlikable characters, the story was awful, lazy cinematography, and the writing is just backwards I'm going to stick to The Hunchback of Notre Dame so I can move on with this awful movie.

A Must See For All Children
sldekle21 March 2006
I was fortunate, or should I say blessed to have been able to watch this movie today. There are no words to describe it. Even "Phenominal" isn't sufficient. This movie brought tears to my eyes. Until today I had never heard of Loretta Claiborne. But as the old saying goes'"Better Late than Never At All. I truly believe that this movie should be shown in the schools, to let our children know and see firsthand just how blessed and fortunate they are. This woman was mentally challenged, but that did not stop her. She has accomplished so much. This woman is totally amazing. I could watch it over and over again and again. I can hardly wait to purchase this documentary of her life.

L. Clairborne

I truly enjoyed this movie. The movie is so touching. I am 60 years old and had no knowledge of this lady. The story is incredible, so uplifting for all. I am sure that once watching this story, everyone had to receive something. (a lesson).

A heart touching story, and it shows that you can do anything that you want, regardless of your family, siblings or anyone else. I commend her and the people that played her role in the movie.

I cried so much, though it's just another example of determination, will power and faith. Holding on to your Faith, you can accomplish anything that you want and need to do.

This story could help stop some of the bullying also. Thou is a true life story, there are plenty who try to fit in others lives once they have made great accomplishments.

The movie L. Clairborne, could have a positive impact on all children of the 2000's.

i just wanted to say , i watched the movie as well, it was so heart touching and very close to home for me, i have a grandson Name Kevin , he is 13 yrs old, he has cerebral palsy,,, he is a delight to our family, he has come so far , at one time he couldn't even sit up without falling over, he's been in school since he was 3 yrs old, and he has accomplished so much , but still such a long way to go , when i see stories of such, it gives me so much hope,,,,,, i would love to see my Kevin up and walking & talking , but just to know that he is still here on this earth with us, it's such a blessing,,,,,i'am sure there are many other families that can say the same,,,,,,,,,

Great movie. Well worth watching

I loved this inspirational movie. Loretta faced many challenges growing up And throughout her years. She was bullied, ostracized, and taken advantage of by other students. Later on she would find help to cope from her mother, her brother and caring teachers. They really helped her by just loving her and being there for her. They didn't baby her but pushed her to do her best and not to let offensive names bother her. I taught Special Education for many years and know first hand about the challenges that these students face. Wonderful to know that it changed her life! PRAYING that Loretta will continue to bless others with her story.
