The Six Million Dollar Man joins G.I. Joe for new crossover series

Idw Publishing and Dynamite Entertainment are teaming up to deliver a new four-issue comic book series featuring The Six Million Dollar Man and G.I. Joe from the creative team of Ryan Ferrier (Tmnt: Dimension X) and artist Sl Gallant (G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero).

“To say Shannon and I are having fun with bringing these two iconic properties together would be a massive understatement,” said Ferrier. “We are going full-tilt and no-holds-barred with this story. It’s everything we love about G.I. Joe, the classic characters, and massive action, colliding face-first with the steel-infused, secret agent coolness of The Six Million Dollar Man. In 1980, Takara Toys launched a series of action figures named Daiakuron (Diaclone), transforming vehicles and robots which were piloted by another of their toylines Mikuroman (Microman). The Microman series was ported over to the United States by toy manufacturer Hasbro, who were looking to reactive their G.I. Joe trademark and wanted to repurpose the Japanese toy for American children. Following the success of Kenner’s Star Wars action figures and Mego’s Micronaughts, Hasbro wanted to ditch the 1970s 12-inch dolls and replace them with 3 ¾ inch figures, retitled G.I. Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary Blu-ray announced

The Transformers franchise has been around for decades and dozens of iterations, showing no signs of slowing down as next year Michael Bay releases the fifth installment of his feature film franchise, Transformers: The Last Knight. Long before Bay started making Transformer films, though, there was another feature film that is often overlooked now: Transformers: The Movie. Shout! Factory and Hasbro Studios announced a distribution collaboration to bring the movie to Blu-ray on September 30th, 2016 to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The movie is being brought to HD from its original 35 mm print with a range of yet to be announced bonus features and collectible packaging.

Made in 1986, Transformers: The Movie was the first animated feature that also tied into the original animated series made between the second and third seasons. The movie was infamous, and still remains so, for killing Optimus Prime and many of the of the other G1 characters at the time.
