Storyline

Twenty years after Bruce Wayne's retirement as Batman, the world has changed even as he retreats from it, ceding control of his company, Wayne-Powers Enterprises, to his partner, Derek Powers. In that world, Terry McGinnis is an ordinary kid whose father, Warren, works for that company. While Terry was out on the town, he has a chance encounter with Bruce Wayne and, his legacy as Batman. He also learns that his father was murdered in his absence and finds a disc containing data that suggests the true motive for the crime and the culprit, Derek Powers. Turning to Wayne as the only one he can trust, he learns that Wayne will not help him directly fight Powers. In desperation and without permission, Terry dons Wayne's last Batman outfit to challenge Powers himself, but can he convince Wayne to help him in order to fight Derek Powers? Nowhere near the original.

BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES was overdue for an upgrade. For years, it was king of the crop in terms of animation and story telling. BATMAN BEYOND is a trendy update of the soon-to-be classic and has plenty going for the series. The show looks and sounds pretty good!

Bruce Wayne hangs up the cowl and cape. Twenty years later, a powerful man slowly takes over Wayne Enterprises for his sinister purpose, while a young upstart tries to take matters into his own hands after his world is turned upside-down.

BATMAN BEYOND is just another tale of vengeance and offers very little new except for different characters. The music gets annoying after awhile and seems to be part of the novelty. All novelties wear out in time and this show is no exception. The animation is still superb and so are the voice overs. The test of time will not be so nice this time around.
