The story follows an aristocrat sindhi family, where their only son Ashkok (Kishore Kumar) has returned to India after completing his studies. His parents are paranoid about him and now want to get their only son married off to the most beautiful bride in the country. The father announces in all newspapers that they seek a bride for their son. They get hundreds of proposals and shortlist 6 among them from different parts of the country. Ashok meanwhile, falls in love with Kokila, who makes a living selling flowers. He goes around the country with his uncle, meeting all the prospective brides and finding reasons why to reject them. His father calls all these famalies over to their house and then chaos ensues. Finally, they decide to marry him off to the daughter of a family friend. The rest of the story is about how he finds a way to convince his family to get him married to Kokila.
Kishore Kumar in his trademark maniacal performance brings in moments of laughter in every scene. The songs by OP Nayyar are a wonderful addition to the narrative. The pace of the movie keeps the audience engaged and the dialogues written in a rhyming manner, bring in a comic touch even non-comic situations.
