fascinating portrait
15 February 2004 | by (Mississippi, United States) – See all my reviews

Well,I looked for something interesting and came across this documentary about a woman who is very talented in painting and ballet. She left New York at the propostion of her husband for a desert wasteland known as Death Valley Station. This trip opened Marta up where she could flourish artistically. The film was fascinating to me because it offers a glimse into the mind of an artist and how she feels about things in her life such as her estrangement with an unapproving father,a fulfilling marriage that vaporizes,a desire to save wild horses where she lives, and the passions of her craft. I found it thoughtful and delicate. Some will find it slow and meandering, but I thought it set out for what it wanted to accomplish..a fine portrait and absorbingly candid inside look at the evolved life of someone who had goals and dreams and reached them. ****/*****
