Good fun

Warning: Spoilers
This Australian edition of Gladiators is very entertaining, but suffers from the same problem that plagues the other versions of the same show that I have seen so far: too much talk. The hosts are charming, presentable people but they are by and large superfluous, and the interviews with the challengers before and after every game are overkill. Other than that, the show is a lot of fun to watch. My favorite games are Pyramid, Hang Tough and Hit & Run. Vulcan is the most charismatic of the male Gladiators, Tower the strongest, and of the female ones Flame is the hottest (no pun intended), Delta the most beautiful and Storm the funniest. "Gladiators" (no matter what country) along with "Fear Factor" feature THE strongest, sexiest women on television, because unlike any scripted show or pro-wrestling, they face tough physical challenges with an uncertain outcome so every victory is well and hard earned. Best season is the 2nd of the 3 - it offers the highest level of competition and the most accomplished finalists. I would give the show as a whole an easy 7.5/10.

Gladiators is Awesome!
arjunan725 June 2005
'Gladiators' was on in Australia from 1995 to 1997, and after that they showed repeats for a short period of time. It was an awesome show and was (and may still be) the highest rating debut television show in the country. That impressive statistic only matches with the impressive quality of the television show. The show featured three domestic series, two Ashes series (where Australia faced England), an International series, two sports specials, an armed forces challenge and an Australia vs. Russia series. The events were Pyramid, Powerball, Hang Tough, Gauntlet, Tilt, Hit + Run, Atlaspheres, Duel, Suspension Bridge, Wall, Whiplash, Pursuit, Swing Shot, Joust, Skytrak and Eliminator.

Amazing reality tv

They don't make reality television like this any more. I fondly remember watching this show back in the 90s and it being the highlight of my evenings. The premise is so good and no longer done like this in Australia. Instead we just see trashy reality television like married at first sight.

The show pits ordinary citizens against pro wrestlers and athletes, each with their own unique identities and gimmick that made this a very addictive show to watch. It also champions athleticism instead of superficial things that we seem to now value based on our current dreary reality television choices. Sigh.

Dancers tribute
maryharlow25 April 2021
A tribute to the cheerleaders who turned up season by season to work on the cast. Special tribute to Cintra Bedford who completed three seasons and was a much loved member of the cast. Cintra is also known for her role in Muriel's wedding in the wedding dress scene.

Gladiators. Geez.

What can you say... Vulcan rocked it in his own super-cheesy way, embracing the show with those crazy eyes as only he could do. Storm was a dude before s/he was a female Gladiator- nothing wrong with it, but does that sound entirely fair on the female contestants? The show was entertaining but monotonous, had a smell of scripting attached to it, and we never saw the ep where Kimberly Joseph sacked up and quivered into the ring. Pity.
