Prairie Pirates (1949) was one of Tex Williams musical shorts for U-I. In the early Fifties, Castle Films offered it as one of their western selections in their catalogues that were free at your local camera store. My uncle had it in his collection of home movies and used to run it backwards in the final scene where Tex Williams has a fight scene with William Haade. The two fight their way up the stairs in the saloon to go crashing through the railing onto the floor, upsetting a table. Haade stands up and for a moment you think he is the winner. But then he falls and Tex gets up to his feet. The studio used footage and the basic plot line from their l941 Johnny Mack Brown film, "Arizona Cyclone" which I have in my collection. Unfortunately the sound versions of Tex Williams' shorts are very rare to find, and the home movie versions put out by Castle which had the song portions edited out can be found on E-bay. The collector who finds one will have fun running it backwards like my uncle used to do.
