Storyline

This is a moving picture that moves. Positively the greatest magical picture ever offered. A Hindoo magician appears and dances for the entertainment of six pretty maidens. Then, to the astonishment of all, he runs up the wall, dances and turns handsprings in mid-air, introducing many tricks that are entirely new in animated photography. The most puzzling of all the mystical series. Written by Star Film Catalog

Human Fly, The (1902)

*** (out of 4)

aka L'homme-mouche

The film takes place at some sort of party where there are six girls standing in line when Melies comes out and begins to walk up the side of the walk just like a fly. This is another winner from the legendary director who takes his special effects and does wonders with them. You can somewhat notice the edit but that doesn't take away from any of the charm as Melies dances around going up and down the wall. Also worth noting is that the entire film has been hand colored and this here looks very nice, especially the yellows.
