Medium's jump from NBC to CBS commences tonight with the sixth season premiere episode "Deja Vu All Over Again," which sees a relatively quick return to normalcy for research medium Allison DuBois (Patricia Arquette) after she recovers from a three-month coma. This follows a breakneck fifth season where the sullen protagonist's soul transferred into a dude named Todd. Fancy! Now she's back on her feet, making risky efforts to return to work, and wondering what happened to her psychic power. »

Patty Hearst Kidnapped All Over Again

24 July 2009 1:10 PM, PDT | Movieline | See recent Movieline news »

This year is the 35th anniversary of Patty Hearst's kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army (as if you didn't already have an Sla-themed party this spring), and no one has embraced it more than the news media. In a year full of national and international strife, there's nothing like a great celebrity kidnapping story to take our minds off the real problems in the world. And remember: 2012 is the 80th anniversary of the Lindbergh kidnapping -- better send out the save-the-date cards now. »

It's Total Recall All Over Again

3 June 2009 1:45 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

It was a few months ago that word came out that a Total Recall remake was in the works. Now comes the news that Kurt Wimmer, he of Equilibrium and Ultraviolet, has signed up to write the do-over - something that we're told will be a "contemporised adaptation" of the Philip K. Dick story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale*.Is this a good thing? Well, we here at Empire are big Equilibrium apologists, even if none of us can muster any love for Ultraviolet. And Wimmer's history as a screenwriter is stronger: he's recently been working on Angelina Jolie-starrer Salt and scripted the really rather good The Thomas Crown Affair remake. If he signs on to direct, however, we're going to need evidence that he's moved a long way on from that Milla Jovovich effort. It remains to be seen if this will bear any resemblance whatsoever »

Starting All Over Again With an X-Men: First Class Franchise

15 April 2009 3:00 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

So with X-Men Origins: Wolverine set to kick off the summer in a few weeks, you'd expect Fox or Marvel to actually want to continue the X-Men series. We've heard of an X-Men Origins: Magneto for a while now, but that project seems to have slowly disappeared into development hell. So what's next? If Wolverine is as big as we're all hearing, it'll be proof to Hollywood that the X-Men aren't dead yet. How about an X-Men 4? Eric Lehnsherr still had his powers at the end, right? Nope, instead it's looking like X-Men: First Class may be the new franchise. Yep, we're talking about kids, young mutants, as in a prequel, not a sequel. Producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who is responsible for all three of the original X-Men movies and Constantine and the upcoming Wolverine, said on Fox Movie Channel's "Life After Film School" (via Comics Continuum) that X-Men: »

Kyle Newman Taking Over War Monkeys for Dark Horse

4 April 2009 8:15 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Due to a scheduling conflict (he's currently shooting Dead of Night), Kevin Munroe won't be able to direct War Monkeys, the upcoming action comedy being produced by IESB's Robert Sanchez. Styd is reporting that Fanboys director Kyle Newman (seen above) will fill in for Munroe and direct the film. As a reminder, War Monkeys is about two janitors who get trapped in an underground research facility full of an army of military-trained research monkeys. The script was written by Cleve Nettles (All Over Again) and is based on a story by Chris Patton (Monarch of the Moon). Dark Horse Indie is developing the project. "Monkeys, guns, explosions. As a genre freak, I couldn't ask for anything more," Munroe said previously in regards to War Monkeys. We originally reported that this project was in development with Munroe late last year. I've been quite excited for War Monkeys, primarily because its been »
