During the television trailers the film showed Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit in lead and then Madhuri Dixit running towards another actor whose face was not shown for some days which the people had to guess it was then disclosed as Salman Khan.

The movie went through many different titles. The original title finally became "Hum Aapke Hain Sanam", but the producers thought it was too similar to Hum Aapke Hain Koun...! (1994).

The fourth and final movie to feature both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan together as of 2017. They had worked together previously in Karan Arjun (1995) , Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega... (2000) . They would later go on to share screen space in the title song of Om Shanti Om (2007) .
