How to Break 90 #6: Fine Points (1933)

** (out of 4)

Golf legend Bobby Jones made a previous set of shorts at Warner called "How I Play Golf" before moving onto this one, which was "How to Break 90". This was the final of a six-part series where we learn tips including how not to hook the ball and how to get the right amount of back spin. Your tolerance of this series will probably depend on how much you enjoy golf. Like a couple of the other films, this one here has a warp around story of a couple men fighting about the proper way to play but none of this is very funny. When Jones does enter the picture we get some clips of him playing golf with the narration of what you should be doing. I think the fact that you can see a legend explaining his craft is the most interesting thing about this short because otherwise it's not that greatly made and the technology of the time certainly keeps you from really seeing the points that Jones is trying to make.
