The Sunday Daily News, dated June 13, 1937 boasts having 12 pages of comics. In the days of cities having multiple newspapers, comics were one of the big selling points on which paper to subscribe. In today's world of newspaper consolidation, contraction, demise, and on-line subscriptions, comics (and comic strip artists) have suffered. Readers are quite lucky if they get four pages of comics on Sunday.
The narrator states that a "good, medium-hard toothbrush is best". However, dentists now recommend that a soft toothbrush be used, as harder bristles can wear away tooth enamel.
The lead comic on the Sunday paper is attributed to "Gabe". This refers to Gabriel Vargas (5 February 1915 - 25 May 2010), a Mexican cartoonist most known for the strip "La Familia Burrón".
