This is by far one of the best short films I've ever seen. This was shown yesterday (11/28/99) on IFC (Independent Film Channel) and most likely will be shown again with other shorts. This amazing film, directed by Christophe Joly, concerns a death row inmate and the innovative yet haunting way he is to be executed. I've always been obsessed with futuristic (or at least original) prison colonies in film, and this is high among them, even at its short 10 minutes. Christophe Joly should be given more money, time, and leway to create his own complex and exciting screenplay, turn it into a feature-length film, and become a true film director. His career could (and should) take the course of such directors as David Fincher ("Seven" and "Fight Club") and Spike Jonze (the incredible "Being John Malkovich"). This had me on the edge of my seat (or, at least, my La-Z-Boy recliner) and I was thrilled to be one of the first to set eyes on this gorgeous piece of filmmaking. 10 out of 10. A MASTERPIECE!!!
