New My Bloody Valentine 3D TV Spot! Will A Theater Near You Have It In 3D?!

23 December 2008 6:59 AM, PST | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Lionsgate has provided us with a brand new TV spot for My Bloody Valentine 3D. (Ironically, the TV spot runs a full minute, which is longer then the 40 second 2nd theatrical trailer.) Regardless, you can check out Both below. (See 'em in high quality over on our newly launched You Tube page: www.youtube.com/iconsoffright)

The real question... will You be able to see My Bloody Valentine in 3D? According to an article in The New York Times, My Bloody Valentine will only play on 900 screens in 3D across the country. 1600 screens will show the traditional 2D version. If successful, hopefully theaters will upgrade their equipment for future 3D fare like Final Destination: Death Trip 3D and Piranha 3D. The article's pretty interesting overall. Check it out Here!

Last month, Lionsgate announced a new special edition of the original My Bloody Valentine to coincide with the release of the new 3D remake. For years, fans have noticed that My Bloody Valentine has always been chopped & trimmed down and always hoped for a full uncut edition, or at least a DVD with deleted scenes. What's a Vamp to do???

11 November 2008 10:00 AM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

She has played the victim.  Her chest has heaved mightily in resisting the vampire’s charms.  She has been sucked dry.  And now she’s getting a little peckish.  In films like the Blade (1998, 2002, 2004) trinity, Underworld’s I & II (2003, 2006), Queen of the Damned (2002), The Lair of the White Worm (1988)(—with Hugh Grant!), Once Bitten (1985)(—with Jim Carrey!), and the all the Dracula’s with their three tempting Fates, what is a hungry lady Vamp to do?  Whatever she wants, to start.

She is free now in some ways, broken from any veiled obligations to continue the cycle of life through motherhood and its evolutionarily-encouraged monogamy (hey, baby daddies are needed to help gather the intense nutritional requirements of childbearing and breastfeeding), free to pursue whatever it is she wants—not whatever it is she needs to nurture.  Even Blade’s mother is yearning for some incest, which is creepy, but »

Debut: Fang Fatale - Vampires turn some people on

29 October 2008 11:46 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Vampires turn some people on.  Others, I’m sure, are repelled at the idea of an immortal creature sucking their blood right out of them like a fine wine (or delicious milkshake: pick your poison).  But for women as victims in vampire films, the horror and temptation of a vampire’s kiss stroll hand in tenuous hand, tentatively smiling at each other in a relatively clichéd (but yet oh-so-watch-able) way.

Let’s examine the typical vampire film scenario, taken straight out of Bram Stoker’s DraculaNosferatu (1922), which changed the name after the rights to Stoker’s book could not be obtained, the classic Bela Lugosi version (Dracula, 1931), and even Coppola’s try in 1992 (Dracula).  Putting aside the roots of the infamous Count from a 15th century impaler by the name of Vlad and the Victorian sexual repressions that combined to create a story still being told (and retold) over a century later, »

Don't Watch: Official My Bloody Valentine 3-D Trailer

23 October 2008 11:27 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

As expected, here's the terrible trailer to go along with that awful poster from yesterday. The first (and hopefully only) trailer for My Bloody Valentine 3-D has everything that a horror flop-in-the-making should have: random girls in bikinis, masked villains with deadly weapons, dark scary places, and fake 3D scenes to try and convinces audiences to actually pay to this pile of crap. Really? I've already exhausted all my energy in angry opposition to this movie in my rant on the poster, so I've got nothing left. Special thanks to IGN for premiering this trailer. I rarely say this, but this trailer really is not worth watching. My Bloody Valentine 3-D Trailer!

23 October 2008 6:31 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Hot on the heels of the new theatrical poster, Lionsgate has provided Icons Of Fright with the first trailer to My Bloody Valentine 3-D and you can watch it below! The remake hits theaters January 16th, 2009!

Based on the 1981 cult horror, My Bloody Valentine 3D, directed by Patrick Lussier, tells a tale of Tom Hanniger (Jensen Ackles), a man who caused an accident in a coal mine in the town of Harmony, killing five men and putting one into a coma. That man, Harry Warden, wakes from his coma one year on with his mind set on revenge. Somewhat overzealous in his definition of revenge, he brutally murders 22 people before being killed himself.

Ten years on, Hanniger returns to Harmony hoping to make up for his past. His ex-girlfriend, Sarah (Jaime King), has married his former best friend (Kerr Smith). But that's really the least of his worries, since a »

Rant: Appalling My Bloody Valentine 3-D Poster!

22 October 2008 10:30 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

This is why I hate 3-D movies! Lionsgate has unveiled an atrocious new poster for My Bloody Valentine 3-D. Why is this post so bad? It glorifies everything about the gimmick of 3-D, playing more off of the idea that "things" will pop out of the screen and scare you than actual high quality movie making. As much as I disliked Journey to the Center of the Earth last summer, this has just shot to the Very top of my short list of films I am completely opposed to. Did Lionsgate eventually realize that My Bloody Valentine 3-D was going to flop bad anyway and decide to then salvage whatever they could by selling the 3-D elements of it to audiences? Whatever the case, I'm very unhappy with this poster and this movie. My Bloody Valentine 3-D is directed by Patrick Lussier, a long-time horror editor and director of Dracula 2000 »

My Bloody Valentine's 3D Poster!

22 October 2008 1:14 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

In a way, I am really looking forward to Patrick Lussier's take on My Bloody Valentine. His Dracula 2000 was loads of cheesy fun, and this time around he has the whole 3D gimmick on his side; there is little that could go wrong here.

Our friends over at Ugo got the exclusive first look at My Bloody Valentine's poster and it's ... not what I expected. One part wacky Spy Kids and another part Friday the 13th is the best way to describe what we saw and it really lacks the creepiness found in the poster from Comic-Con; they sure are putting a lot of effort behind that 3D angle. We'll know if this one sinks or swims on January 16th of next year

"Tom returns to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine's night massacre that claimed the lives of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, however, »

Not Even 'Dracula' Is Safe From a Sequel

6 October 2008 7:02 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Call me crazy, but Bram Stoker's Dracula (the book, not the movie) ends pretty definitively. Dracula gets a bowie knife in the heart, and crumbles into dust in the red sun of the Transylvanian dawn. The wiggle room has been taken care of in a score of movies, books, and television shows -- and we have plenty of new vampire stories, so must we really dig up Dracula again? Well, according to ShockTillYouDrop, yes.

They say a sequel is coming -- and this time it's getting a literary and big screen outing. For the first time, the Stoker estate has authorized an official Dracula sequel titled Dracula: The Undead. Written by Dacre Stoker, Bram's great-grandnephew, and Dracula historian Ian Holt, the story uses characters and plot threads that were edited out of Stoker's original novel in 1897. It hits store shelves in October 2009, just in time for Halloween. And »
