Filmed without direct sound due to the extremely low budget, the film has music, narration, voiceover from various characters, but no synchronized dialogue.
This was the first locally-produced dramatic feature film made in New Zealand since Rewi's Last Stand (1940) and the only one made in the 1950s. The next was Runaway (1964), also directed by John O'Shea.
