Tex Williams: Tex Williams

Quotes

  • [first lines]

[after singing 'The Marshal of Jackson Hole, Wyomin'" together]

Smokey : Not many people know that tune, stranger.

Tex : Well, that's the very same thing I was about to say to you.

Smokey : That song was written in honor of a partner of mine.

Tex : You mean Tex Williams?

Smokey : None other. Me and Tex is just like that! I was with him when he cleaned the Chuck Gorman gang out of Jackson Hole. Shoulder to shoulder we stood and they come at us from all sides. We blazed away until our six-guns got so hot they well-nigh went on fire. The air was blue with smoke and you couldn't see a foot in front of ya. That's how I got the handle onto my name - Smokey. Smokey Rogers they call me back in Wyoming.

  • [Tex and Smokey rescued Deuce from a trio of angry gamblers]

Tex : That was a close call for you.

    Deuce : It sure was.

    [Deuce twirls his necktie]

Deuce : This easily could have been a rope. Any time I can return the favor...

Tex : A man in your profession who doesn't carry a gun won't live long enough in this country to do anybody a favor.

  • Tex : A good way to stay out of trouble is to stay out of card games.

    Deuce : I've reformed.
