Danny Boyle’s FX Limited Series ‘Trust’ Casts Donald Sutherland as J. Paul Getty

12 April 2017 11:15 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Donald Sutherland has been cast as billionaire J. Paul Getty in executive producer Danny Boyle’s upcoming FX limited series “Trust,” Variety has learned.

Getty, the great oil man and founder of the Getty family dynasty, was the architect of the great family fortune, and of its misfortunes too. He was one of the twentieth century’s most iconic and enigmatic figures, and a man of great contradictions – a billionaire who washed his own socks; a visionary who dreamed of a dynasty, but who was baffled by family.

Sutherland is one of the most versatile film and television actors of the century, with a resume of over one hundred and fifty films and shows, including such classics as Robert Aldrich’s “The Dirty Dozen,” Robert Altman’s “M*A*S*H,” and was President Snow in all four of the popular film adaptations of “The Hunger Games” novel series. On the television side, Sutherland »

The Walking Dead's Pollyanna McIntosh Talks Jadis' Origins and the 'Loveliest' Compliment Andrew Lincoln Paid Her

When The Walking Dead’s showrunner Scott Gimple told TVLine that viewers would dig the group being introduced in “New Best Friends,” I’ll admit I was skeptical. To me, the AMC drama already seemed overpopulated. But, after getting a load of Pollyanna McIntosh’s Jadis and her fantastically freaky junkyard collective, I’m eating my words. They. Are. Awesome. Even series lead Andrew Lincoln agrees. “One of my loveliest moments on set,” the Scottish actress says, “was when he turned around and went, ‘You guys are weird. I like you.'”

Walking Dead Recap: Little 'Right' Lie

19 February 2017 7:05 PM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Last week’s midseason premiere of The Walking Dead left us with questions — big ones.

Why did being held at gunpoint by a group of strangers make Rick smile? Who’s been spying on Alexandria? Why did Gabriel clean out the pantry? With whom did he drive off? Helpfully, Sunday’s excellent hour answered them all (and so will this recap). Shall we?

The Walking Dead Showrunner on the Midseason Premiere's Final Moment, [Spoiler]'s Betrayal, 'All-Out War'

12 February 2017 7:12 PM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Sunday’s midseason premiere of The Walking Dead — and beyond.

In the final moments of The Walking Dead’s midseason premiere Sunday, our heroes were surrounded by a group of strangers, all pointing guns at them, and Rick, in response… smiled. What the… ?!? Has he perhaps snapped just the teensiest bit once again? To find out, TVLine rang up showrunner Scott Gimple, who not only offered a definitive answer about Rick’s mental state but also weighed in on Gabriel’s departure, floated the possibility of — sorry, Tobin — a Carol/Ezekiel pairing, contemplated Maggie’s reluctance to unseat Gregory, »

The Walking Dead: 5 Things You Need to Know Before the Midseason Premiere

11 February 2017 3:51 PM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

All together now: Whew.

Thanks to AMC’s trailer for the second half of The Walking Dead’s polarizing Season 7, we’re well aware — and beyond relieved — that our heroes are poised to “rise up” against the Saviors rather than spend another eight episodes getting beaten down. But what else do we need to know going into the Greg Nicotero-directed “Rock in the Road” (premiering Sunday, Feb. 12, at 9/8c)? Read on…

Natalie Portman's Jackie: JFK's widow finally gets her own movie

Pablo Larraín’s film shows why the White House wives deserve their own biopics

Related: Jackie review – Natalie Portman astonishes in remarkably intimate portrait

First Ladies On Film is a pretty small entry in the movie encyclopedia, but Natalie Portman’s Jacqueline Kennedy surely shoots to the top of the heap because they are so rarely more than bit-parts in biopics of their husbands. We tend to remember the presidents and forget who played their mostly blameless wives, even though the faintly holy aura wafting around this nebulous office/non-job tends to suffuse both the casting process and the portrayals themselves. That usually means a big stage name or character player worthy of the role. Witness the women who have played Lady Bird Johnson: Felicity Huffman in Path To War (opposite Michael Gambon’s Lbj); Melissa Leo in HBO’s All The Way (Brian Cranston), and Jennifer Jason Leigh »
