Remember, this show is for kids, 4 July 2003

I am a bit surprised by some of the comments from users regarding this show. This show is meant to appeal to kids, and so it is not surprising that adults might not find it amusing. Some of it is rather silly, but the show does have moments. I am an adult, and sometimes watch it and I think the Judge Trudy sketches can be good, I especially like when she stands up for the kids, and punishes the parents for being idiots. And of course when Judge Trudy shouts "BRING IN THE DANCING LOBSTERS!" Have some fun, and don't take things so seriously.

I don't care what some people think, I really liked this show, 27 June 2003

I don't really like it how a lot of people here keep saying how this show is
so terrible. I think it's a good show in my opinion. One of the best
live-action Nick shows since "Kenan And Kel". Many of the skits entertain
me, especially the ones with Mr. Gullible and the hilarious two "Survivor"
spoofs. The first was everyone stuck in a car, the second was everyone stuck
in a bathtub. It was so amusing to see which character would drive the
others the most craziest.
I agree, some of the skits were pretty stupid at times ("Moody's Point", the
one where a group of people, like cheerleaders or old ladies attack people)
but most of the times it's very funny! I especially like the skits with the
family that does everything wrong. I always laugh every time they have those
hilarious skits where Amanda crank calls an old man to irritate him. It's
dead funny! Also, the one where the family works terribly at places like
movie stores ("This is better!" "Much better!")
Overall, this was a memorable Nick show. It gets a 9/10. Keep this and
"Kenan And Kel" around.

Good grief! I can't believe all the negativity here. This show is hilarious! I am 34 years old and my husband is even older than me. We used to sit and watch it with our kids and we would all laugh so hard. We even recorded some episodes and watched them over and over. Anyone who says Amanda has no talent doesn't know what talent is. She is a gifted actress and comedian. Watching her show reminded me of watching the old Carol Burnett show when I was younger. Sure, some of the skits are silly no-brainers, but everything doesn't have to be deep. The Carol Burnett skits were the same way. Sometimes you just have to be silly! It is a silly show but it is fun and my whole family enjoyed it. We own the movie "What a Girl Wants" which we've watched many times. It is a better example of how funny Amanda is and what a great actress she is. She is a beautiful young lady with a great future ahead of her. The first time I actually saw her was on the movie "Big Fat Liar" and I remember telling my husband, that girl is going to go places. I hadn't seen the Amanda show at that time but we started watching it and loved it. If you haven't seen it, don't listen to these people, give it chance for yourself. MAAA HAAAAA

Okay i realise i'm going to make myself very unpopular here just for my one line summary above, but i'm not going to let most of you say bad things about this show without saying why i think it ROCKS. This sketch style of comedy isn't usually my scene but Amanda Bynes is the most hilarious teen i have ever seen. She has the natural ability of being funny and a truckload of talent to go with it. When she does that hillbilly sketch i completely crack up. Infact i have laughed till my stomach was so tight i thought i would die. The only thing i don't like about the show is the segment on Moody's Point, it seems so dull and unfunny so i find myself channel hopping until that segment is over but the rest of the show is a total scream. Teenagers would prefer this style of entertainment to older people, i'm not a teenager but i never grew out of kids shows so i can still appreciate lighthearted comedy like The Amanda Show. Amanda portrays many diffrent characters and i think she performs great in all of them but i especially like the character of Courtney with the glasses and huge teeth. Courtney's appearance alone is enough to make me laugh and Amanda adds so much more to make Courtney even funnier than she already is. I'm not surprised Amanda Bynes is moving on to bigger things like her part in Big Fat Liar and i'm sure that's just the start for her. I'm looking forward to seeing alot more of Amanda in the future.

Amanda Bynes is well-deserving of her own show. She's improvisationally
superb, comically hilarious, dramatically gifted, vocally versatile,
physically agile, personally friendly, realistically down-to-earth, and
absolutely beautiful.
The Amanda Show was very good throughout its 3-season run on Nickelodeon.
Almost every sketch was hilarious. True, it had its dull points, but what
show doesn't? Also, most of the rest of the cast was talented as well,
especially Drake Bell.
In fact, not only did The Amanda Show recieve remarkable ratings for its
Saturday night time slot, but it only ended because AMANDA HERSELF wanted to
move on, the show wasn't cancelled by the execs.
Now Amanda Bynes stars on the WB's "What I Like About You", so you can see
her radiance there weekly, as well as in "Big Fat Liar" and the coming-soon
"What A Girl Wants".

OK, while this show didn't even hit me until I was way out of it's
demographic, I did watch it a few times (child at heart and all that),
and I recall actually laughing a few times.
Now, granted I have to look at the target demographic to see if the
show was a good show for everyone else involved, but for me, I felt
that it was like a young person's version of the old Carol Burnett show
or the like.
The skits were fairly funny, considering the age group it was designed
for, and they were all fairly creative.
I think the part that I actually really enjoyed, which is a little
weird, was the theme music. It was so catchy that I still get the
little 'Amanda amanda amanda show' part stuck in my head to this date.
So, for the young and the young at heart, I'd recommend giving it a
chance to see if it's your bag.

"Amanda please" give me more of The Amanda Show!, 5 January 2003

Ok so All That was better but the Amanda show has great sketch comedy. I like Moody's point the sketch that's about 5-10 minutes long. It's about a young teen named Moody living her teenage life with her friends Bri,Misty, Spaulding, and the guy who she kissed Sternum. It's sort of like a soap that you know people act in it and they act diffrent from real life. There is other sketches like Melody and Thad, Judge Trudy, Hillbilly Moment, The Literals, The Klutzs, The Wresselburgs, fake comercials, Penelope Taynt, Courtney sketches, Moody's Point,Blockblister, and more. The sketches sometime can be a little "less funier" than others. But for a good time watch or go see The Amanda Show. But out of them all I like the best..... The Girls Room. That is about 4 girls who would say stuff like this at the first of the show..... Amanda would say " Hi my name is Amber, and if you look up popular in the dictonary you'll find me! Now Raquel Lee or another black girl would say something like "I'm Sheila, don't mess with me! The next girl i think her name is like Jamie Snow or something would say " Hi I'm Tammy a exchange student from Tenesee"! The next girl will be Debbie she will say weird things because she is "un intelligent" like "If my name was Elizabeth it would be Elizabeth"! Well I love The Amanda Show and don't pass up a chance to watch!

Occasionally they'll really hit the mark on this show. Everything with
Penelope is gold, most of the staged audience participation works well
too.
However, and maybe I'm just too old, sketches like Judge Trudy and the prank
phone calls simply don't work. I get the feeling Moody's Point is an effort
by Dan Schneider (who appears to be behind the whole thing) to get Amanda
something a little more up-age-market. She deserves it.
While a little keen to rely on stereotypes (hillbilly moment, "I'm from
Tenesesse(or however you spell it)" etc) there's usually enough moments,
especially in the later ones (recognisable by a new title sequence) to keep
most people with a silly mind occupied.
At least Amanda doesn't have the big problem that always stopped me watching
K&K. Namely that inability to say anything without shouting.

*** This review may contain spoilers ***
The Amanda Show had too many changes over its 4 year run. The first
season was short but it had the best design. The show was introduced by
an animated version of Amanda which they could have done much more
with...they could have included a few segments with an Animated Amanda,
an Animated Penelope, and it could have been recurring like Moody's
Point.
Also I liked the set of The Amanda Show...it began extremely basic at
first but during the season more was added. It had running lights at
the sides of the stage...and also running lights that branched out from
the top of the doors behind the AMANDA sign and star-shaped spotlights
behind the AMANDA sign above the doors. Also the AMANDA letters were
lit And the backdrop was blue...
okay so it resembled a game show but that did not matter. One goof was
that all four of the doors partially rotated...the hinges were in the
middle of the door that resembled Secret Doors. The 3rd door... (could
have been second) was later turned into what appeared to be an
automatic pocket door. (it appears that when this door was opened, it
got in the way of the other doors). The A letters on the doors were not
lit. I am not sure when this was added, but there was a different
colored area of the floor where amanda stood to do stand up comedy.
As for the segments, they started off badly but then got better. The
most annoying segments was when Penelope was only advertising her
website... later episodes she would attempt to meet Amanda. Amanda does
know that Penelope exists, but Penelope is not aware of this.
Additionally, Amanda speaks to Preston... and Barney, Drake, and other
cast members are aware of Penelope and her extreme attempts to meet
amanda.
During the 2nd season, the animated amanda was dropped and replaced
with a quick and BORING opening. the stage was changed to look more
like a restaurant lounge with redesigned doors with lit A letters and a
screen behind the AMANDA sign. Also, Raquel Lee and John Kassir left.
I am not sure who Shiela from The Girls Room is in Season 2, It might
have been Raquel Lee but it could have been Reagan Gomez-Preston...who
is not mentioned in IMDb cast for The Amanda Show.
The sketches get better and Josh Peck is added to the cast for most of
the episodes of Season 2. Season 3 is similar to Season 2 and only has
10 episodes. The last season is 6 episodes that feature the best
segments. Raquel Lee is added back into the opening cast credits.
I never liked Moody's Point. I learned that it is a parody of Dawson's
Creek, and now I completely understand it... But the plot of Moody's
Point is both sad and stupid and also extremely dull. I also think that
if they were going to make Moody's Point, they should have SPUN IT OFF
of The Amanda Show.
They actually combined "episodes" of Moody's Point into its own
television series completely independent of The Amanda Show...which is
rarely seen. The episode contained the last two segments of Moody's
Point and it had its own opening and closing credits.
The fact that it ended in a cliffhanger is even worse.
There aren't many episodes...each episode is a little different from
the others, and many of the sketches aren't around much. All of these
changes to everything makes the show appear to last for a decade but
makes you wonder where all the extra episodes are... the result is that
this show appears to have the same production of BBC shows. ...a few
episodes Each YEAR. And at the same time, this show made episodes for 4
years, 13 episodes, 17 episodes, 10 episodes, and 6 episodes...all of
this is common episode number for each series (season) of a BBC
program.
Also...this is a sketch program...so why weren't more episodes made?!
It would have been nice to see more of The Animated Amanda in more
sketches, but perhaps they will make the character her own show and add
the main characters and provide a different plot (some other idea
besides "The Animated Amanda Show" but still includes The Animated
Amanda in it) ....
