- The "First Edition" of the movie is the television play Uchiage hanabi, shita kara miru ka? Yoko kara miru ka? (1993), which was shot, on standard-definition video, for the anthology series If: Moshimo (1993) and broadcast, as its sixteenth episode, in 1993. The "Second Edition" is a recut version which removed the sequences featuring the series' host and was released, recorded onto film, in cinemas in 1995. A "Third Edition" was released on DVD in 1999. The same day, a new, feature-length documentary, "Shônentachi wa hanabi o yoko kara mitakatta", about the making of the original television play was also released on DVD. Most recently at the time of writing, it was upscaled into high-definition video and regraded digitally; this "New Color Grading" version was released on Blu-ray Disc and made available for internet streaming and download in 2017.
