And then we stopped laughing because we were both overwhelmed by a sense of sadness. That took us by surprise: We didn’t realize what we had given birth to. It was hard to live with. And still is.”

Variety exclusively reported the news of Day-Lewis’s retirement in June. His original statement read, “Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make

Asia Argento, More Models Detail Harvey Weinstein’s Italian Connection (Exclusive)
Actress-director Asia Argento, and models Samantha Panagrosso and Zoe Brock have come forward with new details heightening the scrutiny on Fabrizio Lombardo, the former head of a short-lived Miramax Italy unit, and who allegedly acted as a procurer of women for Harvey Weinstein.

Two of the three women Variety spoke to also claim they were sexually assaulted by Weinstein. Panagrosso, in the latest set of allegations against Weinstein, says she was groped by the Hollywood mogul in a hotel swimming pool in Cannes, and then assaulted in the cabin of a yacht during the 2003 film festival. Brock alleges she was tricked into going back to Weinstein’s hotel, and Argento alleges she was raped by Weinstein after being taken by Lombardo to Weinstein’s room, a claim he has refuted.

Lombardo has denied Argento’s claims in a statement. Variety has reached out to his Italian lawyer for further comment.

Harvey Weinstein Stripped of Academy Membership

Harvey Weinstein Stripped of Academy Membership
The Board of Directors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has stripped disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein of his membership in the organization.

The move comes after a New York Times report that alleged decades of sexual misbehavior by Weinstein, and a New Yorker story that brought more disturbing details to light, including allegations of rape. Further accusations surfaced throughout the week.

In its statement, the Academy emphasized that its decision was about more than just Weinstein.

“We [have voted to expel Weinstein] not simply to separate ourselves from someone who does not merit the respect of his colleagues but also to send a message that the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behavior and workplace harassment in our industry is over,” the statement reads.

As Academy standards go, it was a very swift response. But it leaves the question of other members like Roman Polanski and Bill Cosby, whose behavior

Harvey Weinstein Produced One of My Favorite Movies. Now What? (Column)

Harvey Weinstein Produced One of My Favorite Movies. Now What? (Column)
One of my favorite films is 2002’s “The Hours.” It is a melodramatic film in some ways, and hugely depressing, too. But at the age of 17 it was absolutely lyrical for me, and that sensibility has not faded for me in the nearly two decades since. But “The Hours” was crucial for other reasons, too. It’s not just a film I loved at a young age; it’s a film that prompted my entrée to critical thinking and awards-season reporting, as I tracked the movie’s progress from one dusty theater in my 24-screen multiplex to the Academy Awards. I was 17 years old when I first read the name Harvey Weinstein in the pages of my religiously perused Entertainment Weekly. I did not realize then, as I know now, that Weinstein was involved in four out of the five nominated Best Picture movies that awards season — “Gangs of New York,” his personal favorite,

How Will the Film Academy Respond to the Harvey Weinstein Scandal?

How Will the Film Academy Respond to the Harvey Weinstein Scandal?
Update: The Academy has issued a statement, calling the allegations against Weinstein “repugnant” and “abhorrent,” as well as announcing an emergency meeting to determine his fate with the organization on Saturday, Oct. 14.

In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal, one of the biggest stories to ever rock Hollywood, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences may soon be forced to react in some way.

Could the group move to oust the disgraced movie mogul from the organization, as Tina Brown suggested Tuesday in a tweet? “Growing lobby to kick Harvey out of Academy,” she wrote. “Honor the brave women who spoke and do it!”

Or, might the Academy consider stripping Weinstein of the Oscar he personally won in 1999 as producer of best picture victor “Shakespeare in Love?”

No doubt to the organization’s chagrin, Oscar season has become synonymous with Weinstein and his companys’ many nominations and wins stretching back decades for films

Leonardo DiCaprio Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations Against Harvey Weinstein

Leonardo DiCaprio Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations Against Harvey Weinstein
Leonardo DiCaprio has weighed in on the shocking sexual assault allegations against the ex-mogul Harvey Weinstein with a statement of condemnation.

“There is no excuse for sexual harassment or sexual assault — no matter who you are and no matter what profession,” the actor said Tuesday on Facebook. “I applaud the strength and courage of the women who came forward and made their voices heard.”

DiCaprio has starred in several high-profile films that were distributed by Weinstein’s companies, including 2002’s “Gangs of New York,” 2004’s “The Aviator,” and 2012’s “Django Unchained.”

Earlier Tuesday, the New Yorker published a report detailing rape allegations against the mogul by three women, five days after the New York Times story detailing sexual harassment claims leveled against Weinstein, including Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan. The executive was fired on Oct. 8 by his own company.

The allegations have led to a massive condemnation of Weinstein by A-list stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, [link

After Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, and other actresses released statements, Jennifer Lawrence and George Clooney are also speaking out.

“I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein’s behavior,” Lawrence told Et in a statement. “I worked with Harvey five years ago and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations. This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting.”

The 27-year-old actress -- who won an Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, which was distributed by The Weinstein Company -- went on to express her support for those accusing Weinstein of inappropriate behavior, saying, “My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. Harvey Weinstein claims prompt sharing of 'abuse of power' stories

Writer Anne T Donahue gets huge response after telling of her own experience with a boss at a radio station

The Canadian writer whose tweets about Harvey Weinstein prompted a huge response from other people who shared online their stories of sexual assault and harassment has said she was blown away by the reaction she received.

Weinstein has been fired from The Weinstein Company after a slew of sexual harassment allegations emerged last week in a New York Times exposé. It was alleged that the Hollywood mogul, who produced films including Pulp Fiction and Gangs of New York, had reached at least eight settlements with women he sexually harassed, from as far back as 1990 to as recently as 2015.

Harvey Weinstein: fall of Hollywood player they once called ‘God’ | Observer profile

For years rumours surrounded the movie mogul behind films such as Shakespeare in Love and Gangs of New York, but now his accusers are going on the record alleging sex assaults

On the day before news officially broke of alleged sexual harassment stretching back decades, Harvey Weinstein, the 65-year-old movie mogul, offered this comment: “The story sounds so good I want to buy the movie rights.”

In its blend of the glib, the acquisitive and plain braggadocio, it seemed an incredible response to a potentially career-ending exposé. Yet those familiar with the man Meryl Streep called “God” at the 2012 Golden Globes, know that he’s defined by an attitude of infallibility. In 2000, having allegedly assaulted a young reporter at a crowded party, Weinstein is said to have screamed: “It’s good I’m the fucking sheriff of this fucking lawless piece-of-shit town.” (Though several photographers were present, no images surfaced.

Jason Blum Is Hopeful The Oscars Will Stop Ignoring Horror

Today, Jason Blum – of Blumhouse Productions – is undoubtedly one of the most successful producers in cinema. His filmography is actually quite eclectic, with him having helped deliver projects across a number of genres – from the drama The Reader, to the comedy Tooth Fairy. His production label has become synonymous with horror movies, though – and that’s all thanks to one film: Paranormal Activity.

Prior to Oren Peli’s CCTV-based ghost story, Blum had enjoyed a somewhat patchier run as producer – but when Paranormal Activity earned $193 million worldwide against a budget of just $15,000, business at Blumhouse Productions kicked into high gear. Specializing in low-budget horror that earn big returns, Blum has since produced horror franchises including Insidious, The Purge, Sinister and Ouija, as well as standalone titles, such as Oculus, Creep, and Get Out.

Having received an Academy Award nomination himself, for producing the 2014 film Whiplash, Jason Blum is currently at
