Wrestler Sabu Hospitalised

29 April 2012 6:31 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Wrestling icon Sabu has been hospitalised in Pennsylvania after promoters found him unconscious in a hotel room room before a big fight night on Saturday

The star, real name Terry Brunk, was scheduled to appear at a Extreme Championship Wrestling reunion event and when he failed to show, handlers tracked him down to his hotel.

Sources tell TMZ.com that the fighter had an allergic reaction to a medication he had been taking.

A representative for the event says, "Sabu was found unresponsive in his hotel room... Management is currently awaiting results from his doctors to find out what actually happened.

"All we know is that he had prior health issues that might have been a contributing factor. We're pulling for him and are very concerned for his health. We wish him the best of luck in his recovery." »

WWE, WCW & Tna’s 12 Strangest Wrestling Gimmick Matches

29 April 2012 11:35 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE Extreme Rules is the time of year where stipulation matches take centre stage, so what better time to look back at some of the strangest gimmick matches in wrestling history.

Kennel from Hell

Watch It Here

So a retired prison guard steals your dog, invites you over and tricks you into eating him. How do you get revenge? Challenge them to a, “Kennel from Hell” that’s how! On paper it sounded intimidating. A cage surrounding the ring, a hell in the cell surrounding that and in between those rabid dogs. The only way to win was to escape both cages and outrun those angry dogs. Sounds exciting. Unfortunately it wasn’t.

The first (and last) “Kennel from Hell,“ took place at WWF Unforgiven 1999, between Al Snow and the Big Bossman. Unforgiven was already an odd event before the Kennel even came out. The first match of the evening »

WWE Tag Teams: The Good, The Bad & The Underrated

17 April 2012 3:00 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Impact wrestling is currently advertising the return of its most exciting tag team the Motorcity Machine Guns.  But who are they actually going to wrestle when they return?  Team 3D are long gone.  Beer Money are feuding with each other.  Morgan and Crimson have gone kaput.  Ok, there’s the obvious choice of tag team champions Samoa Joe and Magnus but should they really be entered into a top feud right off the bat? This only goes to highlight the distinct lack of depth in tag team wrestling as a whole.  Tna once had an amazing tag division that helped set it apart from the new champs every week approach of the WWE, but these days they too have seemingly given up the ghost.

It hasn’t always been like this though.  Tag teams were once held with great esteem in the business we love, and the tag titles were »

Brock is Back: A Look At WWE Return of Brock Lesnar

9 April 2012 2:14 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Monday night Raw 18th March, 2002. A three way match is being contested for the now defunct Hardcore Championship. The ring is a mess, garbage cans, road signs, kendo sticks, bodies are littered amongst the ring but that is before the real devastation is truly about to begin. From out of the crowd appears this monster, the size of a heavyweight and with the agility of a cruiserweight he performs his repertoire of devastating moves, laying waste to the three participants. Stood in the ring amongst the carnage ex Ecw boss Paul Heyman raises the beasts hand. The The Next Big Thing has arrived.

The next big thing had most certainly arrived, although Lesnars career was a short one it was a highly accomplished and rewarding. He captured the WWE Championship no less than three times, became the youngest competitor ever to hold the title (at the time) won the King of the Ring »

Albert Re-Signs With WWE

17 March 2012 12:21 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

International superstar Matt Bloom, who has been a big name in New Japan Pro Wrestling for years as Giant Bernard but is better known over here under the names Prince Albert, Albert and A-Train, has resigned with the WWE eight years after his release.

Wrestling Observer reports that Bloom will make his return to the company after next month’s WrestleMania 28, and that the current plan is for him to play the new henchman to John Laurinaitis.

The signing of Bloom is out of the left field as it’s rare the WWE sign up wrestlers who are 39 and especially those who didn’t hit the heights that were expected of them with the company previously. Though we have been hearing regular reports of Bloom impressing in Japan and as Giant Bernard is almost unrecognisable with his ring work which to be fair wasn’t bad in the WWE, he »

Four Real Names of Famous Actors

19 February 2012 6:55 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Pseudonyms, aliases and stage names are a necessary part of showbiz - especially during those early Hollywood days when budding actors wandered to its gates, their names a concoction of various nationalities, their parents first generation immigrants from Italy, Germany and Ireland.

The trick is no less fashionable today, but it appears as though those who have changed their names have seen their image shaped by it. Of course, one could argue that the name is influenced and charged with meaning by the image, making it impossible to shake certain actors in our minds from the film genres they tend to inhabit. Yet the examples below tend towards it all starting with the name - a new identity - for the actor to carve out their place in cinema...
