A provocative erotic drama, stylishly rendered by Andre Techine, who won the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival for this compelling investigation into the intersection of sexual and artistic passion.
This is a decent movie, but it's weighted down by a lot of sentimentality. The advertising for this film was great, and the central idea - the banlieues join the jet set - could have made a nice little farce. High points are the brightly lit party scenes, especially one set at St. Tropez.
