Anand Kishore (Ajay Devgan), his wife, Kavita (Mahima Chaudhary), and only child, a daughter, Neha (Akshita Garud), live a happy and serene life in Delhi, India. The peace and quiet of this happy family is disrupted when a mysterious woman begins to secretly meet Neha who develops an instant fondness for her. The woman, Nandita (Kajol), is revealed to be Neha's biological mother merely wanting to see her daughter. The plot acquires a new tension with the Anand meeting Nandita, a girl he had shared an intimate night with on a train under strange circumstances a few years ago. Nandita reveals Neha to be a consequence of that intimacy whom she had to part with under family pressure. Written by
Ajay- Kajol's first film after marriage and a damn squib
Prakash Jha earlier made realistic films like MRITHYUDAND and others but this was an attempt by him to make a commercial film
God knows why in the same year too Govind Nihalini another realistic film director tried a commercial film THAKSHAK with Ajay again
The movie as i said tries too hard to balance both sides
Problem is sadly the weak script
The family scenes are too convulted while the romance between Ajay and Mahima isn't convincing
The drama between Ajay- Kajol and Mahima is well brought out at times but overall the film lacks a strong script and direction
Direction by Prakash Jha is ordinary Music is good
Amongst actors Ajay looks lost and is typecast as in those days when he played the husband in HDDCS and this role had no novelty for him Mahima shreiks too often and is okay Kajol is the best here the rest are okay Chandrachur Singh is a miscast
