Good-hearted Mino Reitano is roped in by decadent conspirators
"Una vita lunga un giorno" (1973) is translated literally "A long life, one day", and that's a more accurate glimpse of this story than "Long Lasting Days". Good-hearted Mino Reitano, a sailor, takes a liking to Ewa Aulin who has inherited a small hotel whose guests are decadent and play games.
The story is a thriller that I'd classify as 70s neo-noir, Italian style. It's not a giallo or a poliziottescho. The 70s neo-noirs in color typically are noir in story but not very noir in use of shadows and colors. This story is dark, as it involves a decadent set of people conspiring to rope Reitano into a deadly game. The movie is okay for fans of such Euro-stylings. It's unfortunate that its direction is on the slack or disappointing side and doesn't exploit the possibilities as much as it might have. However, it did hold my interest and the story did have several surprises.
The cast features some familiar and experienced faces. Luciano Catenacci leads the set of people after Reitano, and he can project menace. Franco Ressel has a small part as a doctor. Nello Pazzafini is a heavy, a thuggish threatening guy. The latter three are all instantly recognizable. Ewa Aulin and Eva Czemerys both go nude briefly.
The IMDb rating of 5.8 is about right.
