A fun late 60's exploitation offering, 4 July 2008

Ya gotta love the world of 1960's exploitation. Granted much of the extreme material that would become so prevalent in the 70's and early 80's is missing with a few exceptions (like the Hershell Gordon Lewis films), but these are fun and entertaining movies. "Confessions of a Psycho Cat" is a sweet little number about a woman who offers three men $100,000 if the can stay alive in Manhattan for 24 hours. But, there is a catch as she is a psychopath intent on hunting them down and killing them one by one, sort of a human safari. Anyway, this is a very cool film that totally caught me by surprise even if it is well reviewed here. The script is well written and director Herb Stanley does a magnificent job building up tension and creating an engaging story line. He also handles the climax very well. Granted the acting isn't very good, especially from some of the supporting characters, but that's what makes this even more fun. The movie does feature several soft core inserts which several others have condemned for being boring, but personally I didn't mind them all that much, I guess I like nudity in movies way too much. Overall an excellent drive-in film, this is well worth checking out. Plus, with a runtime of under 70 minuets, "Confessions of a Psycho Cat" does not ware out its welcome.
