Z Nation Preview - Should You Tune In or Shamble On?

10 September 2014 7:00 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

If a step-by-step guide were written for how to create a standard zombie narrative, it would be titled "Z Nation." Start with one part outbreak footage, and mix in some overlapping audio clips of news regarding said outbreak.

Simmer it in a stock of basic characters with one part brown-haired stubbly leader, one part love interest, two parts mysterious drifters with unexplained combat prowess, and three parts uninteresting zombie chow to beef up the cast.

Marinade in a standard post-apocalyptic world, equal parts towns trying to make it and traveling caravans with dubious intent. Bake for 45 minutes in standard character dilemmas, adding in a mission to cure the virus for some longevity. Garnish with dialogue.

I try not to be too critical of things for being standard. I can’t expect everyone watching something to have the same breadth of exposure as I do, and in my experience there’s »

Interview: Comic Actor Matt Walsh Goes ‘Into the Storm’

7 August 2014 8:54 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Matt Walsh has been more visible lately, and it has much to do with his approach to character roles, beginning as Mike McLintock on the HBO series “Veep” and currently in the new film “Into the Storm.” For a Chicago native who began doing comedy improvisation here, he is moving on up.

Matthew Paul Walsh was born in Chicago, and graduated from Hinsdale High School. After college at Northern Illinois University, he became enamored of the improv scene in Chicago in the early 1990s, and studied under the master instructor Del Close. While dividing time between the Annoyance Theater and the ImprovOlympics (iO) in the city, he helped to found the “Uptight Citizens Brigade” (Ucb), which also featured Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts and Matt Besser. The troupe got its own show on Comedy Central, and has opened Ucb theaters in New York and Los Angeles.

Someone’s killing pretty models at 'Club Lingerie'

by Gerald Beanery, MoreHorror.com

On rare occasion, every few hundred thousand movies or so, you may come across a captivating mystery thriller with so much life-changing meaning, such realistic nerve curdling emotion, such awe-struck wonder and curious disbelief, through tears and through laughter, the viewer is transformed into an entirely new being, for the better, and will live on under a new persona for the rest of their life, reflecting on that specific motif of entertainment.

Jared Masters, the surrealist who helmed recent horror melodramas Slink, Teachers’ Day, and Deadly Punkettes, now has his new film, Club Lingerie, also known as Passion Show, halfway in the can.

The motion picture is his most serious, intellectual, genre defying and most challenging project yet. The story is compiled of colorful characters whose mannerisms project into on screen tensions that simmer to a boil and will explode into an aggrandized cinematic trend setter. »

The Greatest Movie Journeys

25 April 2014 5:15 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

It’s not always the destination but how you get there, and John Curran’s Tracks, released today in the UK,  proves exactly that. Starring Mia Wasikowska as the socially inept and desperately stubborn Robyn, Tracks follows this young woman as she treks 1,700 miles across West Australia.

To celebrate the film’s release we took a look at some of the best journeys in cinema and the characters who took them.

Stand By Me

1986, dir. Rob Reiner

A perfect film about the tribulations of growing up, Stand By Me ends with four boys visiting a missing body, but the obstacles that they endure on their trip, from raging trains to high school bullies are what shape its characters. So believable are the scrappy and defiant nature of our four protagonists that its difficult not to side with them, even if the end of their journey doesn’t signify a great victory. »

Clueless: What the cast did after hit teen comedy

11 March 2014 10:03 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Iggy Azalea paid tribute to cult teen classic Clueless in her recent music video for 'Fancy'.

The Australian rapper appears as Alicia Silverstone's iconic character Cher in the video, which was released online last week.

As stars continue to be inspired by the movie almost 20 years on, we take a fond look back at the cast and what they went on to do after Clueless:

Alicia Silverstone (Cher Horowitz)

Alicia Silverstone played seemingly shallow socialite Cher - famously branded "a virgin who can't drive" and "hymenally challenged" - in the high-school adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma.

Prior to Clueless, Silverstone's credits included ABC comedy-drama The Wonder Years and a number of Aerosmith videos. The film propelled her to further fame, and she went on to star in Joel Schumacher's 1997 movie Batman & Robin, crime-comedy Excess Baggage (1997) with Benicio Del Toro and Christopher Walken, and romantic drama Blast from the Past (1999) opposite Brendan Fraser. »

Everyone is familiar with the legendary Monroeville Mall, and we know the Pittsburgh area is basically ground zero for the creation of the modern day zombie. Director William Sanders is taking the nostalgic love horror fans have for the area and bringing a whole new nightmare there.

Sanders and his writing and producing partner, Kevin Kriess, have attached Tom Savini to star in their upcoming film, Road Trip of the Dead, which will be shot in several of our favorite horror sites around the Steel City.

They currently have a Road Trip of the Dead Indiegogo campaign launched that you can check out if you want to contribute. There are some really cool perks available to contributors, including authentic pieces of the original elevator and escalator from JCPenney used in the filming of Dawn of the Dead.
