Fox Sets Apes 2, ID4 3D, X-Men 2 Dates

1 June 2012 10:45 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Disney isn't the only one playing musical chairs with their slate this week as Fox have made some big announcements which essentially set up their Summer 2014 slate according to Box-Office Mojo.

It's a line-up that will resemble last year's in fact, kicking off with the newly titled "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes". The sequel to 'Rise', which grossed a whopping $483 million worldwide, will bow on Memorial Day Weekend - May 23rd 2014.

Then on July 18th 2014 comes the untitled "X-Men: First Class" sequel with director Matthew Vaughn and all of the original cast back onboard.

Long before that though are the films in 2013 and just announced yesterday is a 3D re-release of Roland Emmerich's "Independence Day" for July 3rd 2013.

A month later the company will debut the sequel "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" on August 16th, a not that surprising delay of five months for the Greek myth-themed fantasy. »

Robopocalypse, Independence Day 3D, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and X-Men sequel get Release Dates

1 June 2012 8:00 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Fox has released a ton of release dates for many of their upcoming high profile films.

First of all let's address the fact that Independence Day is getting a 3D makeover. 20th Century Fox saw how well Titanic did in when it was released in 3D and decided that Independence Day would be a good choice to bring back to the big screen in the third dimension. They went ahead and gave it a release date of July 3rd, 2013. This actually could be a fun movie to see in 3D.

The studio also set release dates for several other films for the summer of 2014.

Steven Spielberg's Robopocalyse will be released on April 25th, 2014.

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel has been given the title Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and will be released May 23rd, 2014.

Matthew Vaughn's sequel to X-Men: First Class will be released July 18th, »

Fox goes crazy with its release dates, picking dates for some of their biggest films they have on their current slate.  Find out when you can catch the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men: First Class; when Steven Spielberg's next big sci-fi film is set to hit, and when you can see Independence Day on the big screen again after the break.

Wow...a lot of ground to cover here.  Fox has been filling in its schedule for the next few years, and targeting the big summer months for some of their most successful franchises.  First off, let's go in order; on April 5, 2013, the new comedy from Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is set to hit.  The currently untitled comedy will star Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.  Bowing out two months later is a 3D re-release of Independence Day, exactly 17 years from when it first hit theaters in 1996 (holy shit! »

Fox sets release dates for 'Robopocalypse,' 'Apes' and 'X-Men' prequel-sequels

31 May 2012 2:01 PM, PDT | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

Further confounding the Mayan calendar, the Robopocalypse has been postponed another year until summer 2014.

Steven Spielberg’s film about the epic collapse of our civilization at the mechanical hands of soulless automatons was originally due July 3, 2013, but 20th Century Fox (which is co-financing the film with DreamWorks, and Disney’s Touchstone distributing) announced today the movie has been shifted to April 25, 2014.

That will give Spielberg and co. more time to develop the project, and hopefully persuade his Lincoln star Daniel Day-Lewis to cameo as a bloodthirsty, killer version of Disneyland’s “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” animatronic attraction. (Hey, we can dream. »

Fox Schedule ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,’ ‘X-Men,’ ‘Independence Day 3D’; ‘Robopocalypse’ Pushed Back

In a move that almost suggests they forgot to do this sort of thing over the course of a few weeks, Fox have dumped a very large load of release dates for their upcoming blockbusters — hotly-anticipated sequels and re-releases to be found among them. First, foremost, and most importantly: the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel has been titled Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and is officially slated to hit on May 23rd, 2014.

It’s something we’ve heard so much about for more than nine months — you can pick or choose what seems relevant — yet an effort we don’t have a great deal on, either. Rupert Wyatt will direct; Scott Z. Burns will write; Andy Serkis is putting on the motion-capture suit; and Apes will continue their newfound domination of the planet. Being a big Apes fan who just so happened to greatly appreciate Rise, »

ID4 Goes 3D In 2013

31 May 2012 12:39 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

If you watched Independence Day when it arrived back in 1996 and thought, “This is nice, but I really wish the White House could explode all over my face,” we worry about you and would prefer not to sit next to you in a cinema. But the bosses at 20th Century Fox were clearly thinking something similar, because the alien invasion blockbuster will be getting a shiny 3D makeover for 2013.Capitalising on the profits earned by the re-released Titanic, the studio is working with Stereo 3D (which did the conversion on James Cameron’s film) to bring Roland Emmerich’s patriotic explosion-fest back to screens. The film is slipping into a July 3, 2013 release date, which has just been vacated by Steven Spielberg’s Robopocalypse. And who knows? If the 3D re-release is a success, it might kick-start work on the long-mooted ID4 sequels...That's just one of the big movies arriving »

Werner Herzog's Dinotasia roars onto screens; Warner Bros plans Los Angeles dinosaur attack film

2 May 2012 2:57 AM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Dinosaurs may have died out 65 million years ago but mankind's knowledge about them continues to evolve and they remain an endless source of fascination and feature film material.

It's now widely accepted that many had plumage and in January the largest feathered dinosaur known was discovered in China. Yutyrannus huali (pictured above; click for a larger version) measured almost 30ft in length and weighed more than a tonne; it was a close cousin of T.rex but, unlike its famous relative, fossils show it was covered in downy feathers to keep it warm.

If Hollywood is taking note, maybe these latest discoveries will make it into Spielberg's planned Jurassic Park 4 or Barry Sonnenfeld's planned Dominion: Dinosaurs vs Aliens.

But in the meantime, there are other prehistoric-themed projects to sink your teeth into.

This Friday, May 4, sees the cinema release of Dinotasia, directed by David Krentz and Erik Nelson and »
