Dragon Ball Fusions coming to the 3Ds this December (but only in America)

22 September 2016 1:10 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Bandai Namco Entertainment have announced that handheld action-rpg, Dragon Ball Fusion, will be coming to 3Ds owners in the Us on 13th December.  This news will understandably be frustrating for UK and European fans of Dragon Ball Z, but fear not because it will be coming to our shores in February 2017 (yes, I know that seems ages away).

Using a battle system that has both strategy and real-time action elements Dragon Ball Fusions will see players create their characters, travel the Dragon world collecting items and creating alliances with other fighters.  These fighters can then be ‘fused’ together to create all-new characters with Bandai Namco promising a huge amount of different combinations.

Dragon Ball Fusions was released on the Nintendo 3Ds in Japan back in August and received fairly positive reviews and is likely to garnish much support with fans in the west.  It’s just disappointing that Europe has »

6 September 2016 7:42 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

There’s no denying the massive impact Star Wars has had on the world, and over the last few decades its influence in pop culture has been clearly felt.  From TV shows to movies, there are countless references and Easter eggs.  Video games are no exception and some Star Wars characters have popped up in some surprising places.  Let’s take a look!

Star Wars cameos and references aren’t exactly new even in the video game world where characters had full roles in games like Soulcalibur IV, or cheeky references/quotes.  It happens casually and it’s a testament to how embedded Star Wars has become into our overall culture.  Even so, there are still some games that have managed to sneak in Star Wars characters unexpectedly...

New Content Announced for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

23 August 2016 9:04 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Dragonball Xenoverse 2 is adding some new features to the game, which have just been shared thanks to a brand new trailer showing some of them in action!  Come inside to check it out.

First off is the addition of the insanely powered Majin Vegeta as a playable character. Now the first game had about 47 characters so here’s hoping this roster far exceeds that one. Now on to the multiplayer which will allow for up to six players to fight together against enemies. How Dragonball is that? I mean until you fight for like 2 weeks and Goku finally shows and wins in 5 days.

For players looking to share their Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 experience with friends, a new Expert Mission multiplayer mode will also be featured in the game that will enable six players to band together to take on giant Npc bosses. The ability to join-up with friends to take-on »

The new feature “gives players the opportunity to form strategic team play that will deliver the most dynamic multiplayer experience in any Dragon Ball Z game to-date,” according to the publisher.

Jeremy Lin shoots hoops with Naruto and Sailor Moon in ‘Space Jam 3’ short film

28 July 2016 4:35 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

We’re still waiting on Space Jam 2, but ’90s nostalgia is alive and well with a basketball star of today in Space Jam 3.  The short film by YouTuber Ryan Higa hit the web today, and it features Brooklyn Nets player Jeremy Lin getting transported into the world of anime characters. He soon finds himself having to shoot hoops alongside Naruto and Sailor Moon. There’s plenty of homages to the 1996 classic here, including Michael’s Secret Stuff — but Jeremy’s Secret Stuff, it turns out, is what the NBA player uses on his oft-wild hair. Lin’s hair is exactly part of what makes him a good fit for an anime Toon Squad — one of his ’dos once got plenty of comparisons to Goran of Dragon Ball Z. Check out Space Jam 3 below: Meanwhile, the latest on Space Jam 2 is that another Lin — Justin Lin, of Star Trek Beyond »

Dragonball Evolution Writer Apologizes for Horrible Script

3 May 2016 6:09 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

While adaptations of comic books and other popular brands most often drum up big business at the box office, that isn't always the case. One of the most infamous flops over the past few years was 20th Century Fox's Dragonball Evolution, which earned just $9.3 million domestically and $57.4 million worldwide back in 2009, while posting a horrid 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Just over seven years after the movie hit theaters, the movie's screenwriter, Ben Ramsey is apologizing for such a bad attempt at making something worthwhile.

The screenwriter was contacted by Derek Padula, who runs the fan blog The Dao of Dragonball. Derek Padula had initially called the screenwriter to interview him for a book he's writing entitled USA Dbz, which will have a chapter devoted to telling the untold story of Dragonball Evolution. Ben Ramsey responded with a heartfelt apology to Dragonball Z fans everywhere, which you can check out below. »

Joe Corallo: Shell Game

19 April 2016 5:00 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

This was supposed to be a lighter column for me. I had seen Iggy Pop play over at The Capital Theatre in Port Chester last Thursday. I was going to write about how it was an absolutely incredible show, talk a bit about Iggy Pop’s career and how he was a major influence on the comic book series The Crow. Then I read this. And this. I saw friends of my get incredibly upset over this. Hell, I’m upset too. So without putting up much of a fight with myself, I decided this week I’d tackle the growing embarrassment that is the Ghost In The Shell live action adaptation.

Ghost In The Shell was one of the first anime movies I had watched. When I was a kid, I grew up on Voltron, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and many others. The Sci-Fi channel (before it was »

Pokkén Tournament Review – One Hell Of A Promising Start

27 March 2016 2:25 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Nintendo

Rating: ★★★★☆

It’s quite the baffling state of affairs when the most interesting and enjoyable fighter of 2016 is not Street Fighter V, but newcomer Pokkén Tournament. By including a staggering amount of depth and strategy, Bandai Namco have given what could turn into a long-running franchise the most promising debut in quite some time.

It’s not all sunshine and anime rainbows though, as despite featuring a very impressive, complex yet balanced fighting engine (‘rock, paper, scissors’ becomes ‘grab, strike, counter’ as everything else builds on top), fights on all levels can be won, more often that not, by resorting to button-bashing. Now of course, in a fighting game it’s just common parlance to not play in such a way, but timing windows for combos are very wide and generous, meaning you’ll end up pulling off some of your character’s most fancy and screen-filling moves with »
