THANK GOD, 7 October 2004

It has been a long time since a cartoon of this merit has been seen. Clearly the influences are such animation greats as Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, Hannah Barbera, and ironically Jerry Lewis. Oggy and the Cockroaches has some brilliant scores in it. I love how they do not say a word in the cartoon but rather use music to make all their expressions. Musically the show is amazing. The show also incorporates a good use of computer animation. Another added bonus is how the cockroaches are named after 3 Ramon's members (Joey, Dee Dee, Marky) I do not know if this is a coincidence or not but it is still amusing. Overall a great cartoon that s not afraid to BE A CARTOON!

I must strongly disagree with person who says that this cartoon is
stupid. Of course, jokes seem to be like Warner Bros' jokes, but they
really aren't, Oggy's jokes far more cynical and full of irony. Also
unrealistic situations that happen so often are just a plus to the
whole. Surrealistic environment of this cartoon offer a completely new
perception of world show that the world is not what we see but what we
want to see.
"Oggy and the Cockroaches" can't be compared to no cartoon I've ever
seen, and that makes it so good and original. It must not be seen as
common entertainment, but as a unique and deep look at the world.
This cartoon is perfect in every way.

Brilliant, funny and full of surprises, 4 August 2002

I hate cartoons. But thanks to the Swedish channel, Kanal 5 mistakingly regarding this as a cartoon for kids, I became devout Oggy-lover. Its brilliant and funny, and you never know what will happen, which is an enormous plus, predictability being the mortal enemy of any film. The stories have at least two or three twists and the tags that make you giggle even if your world is falling to pieces. Here you can watch a cartoon-cat reading while doing number one (and two too, I suppose), three annoying cockroaches with different personalities making his life hell, as well as that of his friend Jack, the breezy green macho-cat, who's into gadgets and motors of all sorts. It's also subtle and verges sometimes on a dream-like state more akin to the surreal. My personal favourite is the story when the cockroaches redneck cousin come for a visit, bringing a strange, reeking cheese, that..no I won't tell. Watch it if you can. You'll be a happier person.

A really nice cartoon, 22 August 2001

I normally never watch children's programmes, but whenever I see that "Oggy" is on, I always take the time to watch it. To me it doesn't seem like a cartoon for children, it is very adult like. With it's strange futuristic buildings, and weird animals it is quite political. And of course it is great fun.

classic cartoon, 12 July 2004

it was a cold, hungover Sunday morning after a heavy night of drinking
out on the town when laying in the couch, i switched onto Swedish kanal
5 - and, oggy was on the TV. i had a headache, i've always loved
cartoons and best of all - there was no language, just sound effects
and expressions. instantly, i was hooked.
so hooked, i've been collecting episodes :) it was impossible to find a
complete episode list, but - i managed to build one, from German
episode lists and collecting items along the way - with the release of
the DVD, it cleared up a few unknowns :) now, i proudly show my oggy
collection on my website...
to date, i have all 156 episodes; however, i still seek two with
English titles and non German dubbed audio - my quest goes on! there
has been a release on DVD, however, it is only the first 60 episodes;
those DVD's sit nicely in my cupboard. classic cartoons.

I just can't get enough of these fellows. This is - by far - the best
cartoon produced in modern time.
Great speed, great timing and great sound effects.
A big thank you goes to Olivier Jean Marie for this marvelous
production.

Oggy VS the cockroaches, 29 January 2005

Don't you hate cockroaches? Don't you feel they can ruin your evening
when they get out to terrify you? Oggy feels the same. But Oggy, a
modern cat with a pop-freak culture, wants to deal with them in many
different ways at every episode of ''Oggy and the Cockroaches".
Pleasant humor that is more adult than childish and lots of irony.
The cockroaches are 3 little ''bad boys" with no respect for Oggy or
whoever gets into their way. They usually pay for their bad habits,
sometimes in a sadistic for them way. They have the chance to revenge
and Oggy pays too:( The spectator isn't sympathetic with Oggy or the
cockroaches, both characters are messing around with each other,
resulting in a non-clear justice.

This show is simply amazing.Real fun every time I see this blue cat get
his butt kicked by these nasty cockroaches.Surely a rip off of good all
warner bros cartoons but a freaking nice rip off!! The plot is as
simple as that. You can see the daily adventures of Oggy, the blue cat
who loves comfort and most of all his house. He lives with his supposed
cousin jack, a green cat. There's also a nasty dog as neighbour and of
course those 3 insects.
Graphically, the show is really nice to watch, with fresh and eye
catching colors coupled with some nice CGI images.Fast paced and
hilarious, the show lacks dialogues but compensate with funny sounds and
most of all of a ground breaking intro. If you want to relax and have a
good time, just watch this show where the cat is not always the
looser!!!

Best cartoon of its kind, 2 June 2007

I think this cartoon is the best in its genre after the Golden Age of American Animation. I have a satellite TV, and i have seen it many times on many channels - such as Gulli (French), Super RTL Channel (German), and one African channel (!). My favorite episode is "Perpetual motion", where Jack repaired the broken TV remote controller, Joey poured an oil into the wires, and the remote controller became something like the machine of time. Anyway, it's one of the best cartoon i'd ever seen. If you feel miserable on old cartoons, you just must see it. P.S. Sorry if my English is bad. P.P.S. I didn't say that this cartoon is similar to Tom&Jerry or Road Runner etc. - it's just original and hilarious.

the best cartoon I've seen for a long time, 18 July 2001

To me "Oggy" is the best thing that happened since "Tom and Jerry" (the old
ones).
German TV is now showing "Oggy" at the children's hour, which to me is quite
strange as I think the often cruel, violent as well as anarchistic and also
surrealistic humour is not exactly child-conform.
To really enjoy the show you should accept its sheer nonsense world where
natural laws no longer exert their power and everything is
possible.
You should also love the extremely kitsch coloured conformistic suburban
dwelling of Oggy and his fellows with its highly imaginative wall-papers and
pictures on the walls. And hospitals with super-sized syringes on their
roofs serving as "guide-signs" and never ending staircases and a tour into
outer space every now and then and and and...
....maybe it's no mistake either to like a certain New York based punk-band
with DeeDee and Joey being two of the cockroaches.
I am of course very fond of Oggy and his antagonists, they are so
human.
Another thing I enjoy is that the whole of them are so malicious and still,
from time to time, every one of them gets his.
So my hope is that this show will run on for ever.
