Lanford Wilson at his best
27 May 2002 | by (Houston, Texas) – See all my reviews

My class is putting on a production of this play so we watched the film. The film keeps the same story and characters as Lanford Wilson's play. The cast is interesting, one is able to see a few famous faces such as a young Susan Sarandon as Patsy Johnson and Rue McClanahan as Cora Groves. I thought they acted very well. The two characters that I thought were best portrayed were Mary Windrod and Skelly Manor. The actors playing them captured the roles very well and realistically. I did not however like the actress who played Eva Jackson. I thought she made her too young and at times mentally challenged. She's fourteen and immature, not retarded! All in all the film is good, but I suggest reading the play or seeing a production of it. You would probably enjoy it more.
