'The Foxbusters', which is loosly based on Dick-King Smith's novel is Cosgrove Hall's most recent of all 2D animation, which is rather upsetting considering they are now making 3D puppet crap at the moment. The story is about three hens defending their farm from the foxes who live in the nearby forest, but what makes these hens special is that they can fly!
The cartoon itself, is actually very funny. There is a lot of good British humour involved in this TV Show, and as if that weren't enough, although the foxes are the bad guys, they are the most amusing characters, and possibly among the best villains in any cartoon.
The voice cast of Whoopi Goldberg, Jane Horrocks and Joanna Lumley is perfect, and the animation is truly wonderful. Unlike most cartoons made in the last 5 years, The Foxbusters was traditional 2D, so don't expect any of that ugly 3D computer animation or claymation. Don't get me wrong, but I personally think 2D animation is a lot more beautiful and shows more dedication.
Cosgrove Hall, who made classics such as Dangermouse and Count Duckula during the 1980's and early 1990's were at their best once again, and they haven't been like this since, which I find quite upsetting. The Foxbusters is overshadowed by some of Cosgrove Hall's other work, but for no good reason whatsoever! All in all, a truly wonderful animation, and in my opinion the last good cartoon of the 20th Century, and it continued on into 2000 and was repeated again in 2003! Trouble is, I want it repeated again!
